What is it? I was watching a video of the show NOFX Backstage Passport, or something like that, and Fat Mike was on it and super messed up. http://www.fuse.tv/videos/shows/nofx-backstage-passport/ If you go to videos and scroll down you can find it. But anyways, I googled it and the first link to come up was this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Dragon_(drink) Is it the same thing as Fat Mike is talking about doing in the video? It seems like he is more than just high&drunk which is what I assume the drink would be like.
Looks about right, but it looks like he got quite a bit of liquor in him because of it. A lot of people prefer to use shit like 151 but that is way too rough for me and nothing is better than a great vodka. Has anyone ever tried making Green Dragon in something like Grey Goose or Belvedere and made appletini's?
grey goose is nasty, but then i dont like vodka in general to begin with. still, i've had bottom shelf vodka i liked better than goose. but i digress. vodka and similar spirits in the range of 35-55%ABV (70-110 proof) aren't very good for making green dragon. it is incredibly inefficient for extracting the goodies. ideally you would get the closest you can to pure grain alcohol, like everclear. everclear is 95%ABV, or 190 proof. with everclear you can extract the magic in just a few hours. next best is 151 proof vodka, though other 151 proof spirits (like rums) would work just fine as well. this, being significantly weaker, will take a much longer time to extract. most people macerate for a month. regular old vodka should work in theory, but is so weak that it will take a LONG time to extract all the thc. i have used 100 proof vodka before and after a month it still had no effect beyond that of the alcohol. proper green dragon is strong, and often highly narcotic. its not like smoking and drinking, its more like drinking and eating pot brownies (which are MUCH different than a high from smoking) only it hits a little faster. on the rare occasion i make green dragon, i just make one dose at a time, using about a gram of some really good herb and 1.5oz everclear. soak it overnight, then when it comes time to drink it i simply dilute it in about two shots worth of cola or something and chug immediately.
I am currently in the process of making some super potent green dragon that each dose can be administered by an eyedropper. Nesta- you make one dose at a time? I have done that and found it not to be an efficient/effective use of bud. I recomend making larger batches 7+ grams of weed tips: Dry the weed more- so that it would be considered too dryto smoke Use a coffe grinder to gind the weed dont use liquor under 75% alc/vol (151 proof)
making one dose at a time works just fine. use enough alcohol and enough herb, and enough time, and its exactly the same. it all has to do with scale. besides, i dont have the money for an eighth of middies very often, let alone a quarter of good herb for this kind of thing. i'll stick with small batch (btw, 75%ABV is 150 proof) and imo, as long as it isn't just really old, there is no such thing as too dry to smoke:cheers2:
Personally, I make my Green Dragon with my stems. After I clean each batch of weed I drop my stems into my liquor bottle. I don't use such a high proof but I let it sit for a very long time. I started a batch last summer and I currenly have a bottle of Orange Flavored Vodka, 80 proof, with my stems. I don't expect to drink it right away as a matter of fact I don't expect to drink it for another six months or so. I don't smoke enough to put that many stems into the bottle. I also plan on replacing the liquor as I consume it, in other words, if I pour off a couple of shots I will put in a couple of shots of vodka to fill it back up. I tested it about a month ago and I don't think I got much of a buzz off of one shot but then again I did not do it using a control. The reason I used a flavored vodka was becaue it can taste nasty. If after my year long experiment it does not work very well, I will buy a quarter of swagg and use some Everclear to extract. Then again, I am also planing on trying to make honey oil sometime this summer as well.
