Thats the thing, i dont think anyone is arguing that rapists and child molesters shouldnt be on it but would you like to be on it with them because say one night you were drunk and took a pee in a bush and police officer busted you?

    P.S.
I guess by the letter of the law, all homeless people are sexual offenders.

    You'd be shocked.
I used to live down the street from a man who was a multiple count pedophile.

    Obviously.
The idea is a good one, but man corrupts it.

I would have a lot more confidence in my view if the correctional system was rehabilitative rather than punitive.

Sometimes if the focus is rehabilitative, and that is what the Australian system is like if my understanding is correct, the punishments for some crimes can be way too leniant.

There does need to be a balance, sadly i dont think any current system has that balance quite right.

Urinating in public is indecent exposure in Virginia. I found that out the hard way. There was a jumper on the Woodrow Wilson bridge and had the capital beltway backed up for 5 hours. I had plenty of water in my cooler but no where to deposit it. So I got out of my truck and walked to the treeline. On the third trip a cop showed up and gave me a citation. The judge gave me a stern lecture and told me I could be placed on the registry and have my kids taken away. But I got off without a fine. Not everyone was as lucky that day. Several had to sue Fairfax County to get out of being placed on the sex offender registry. It's an income generating program.

If you've been convicted of molesting children multiple times you should have a choice. Surgical castration, exile to an island in the Pacific or execution.

That is seriously taking the piss. I think the taking your kids away from you bit was probably just to scare you though, but pissing next to a tree, what next....

It's all how some group of assholes interpret the law. You can't piss unless you expose your naughty bits and exposing your naughty bits is a sex crime.

Rehabilitation is what happens inside prison. The sentence can be as long, but in prison the criminal would have access to resources that prepare him for his return into society: education, psychiatric and health care, career development, and leisure.

Some of it already exists in the U.S., I suspect. The problem is that basic services of this kind are of poor quality even to the average citizen. And in prison, much worse if they exist at all.

It is also a strain on resources to keep putting shit tons people in jail for smoking-pot-while-being-black and stuff. So, I don't think such a thing could even begin to take hold until Clinton's War On Drugs legacy is erased.

I don't know about Bush, but I'm pretty certain more people were arrested for personal drug use during Clinton than any other president before him. He at least took the War On Drugs (hate that name) a step further.

thats not even funny cause I know this dood that happened to him too.
Suppose to have sex assaulted his Gf at the time, Well it was a case of she was pissed at him and it went to far. They come up with all kinds of shit saying they would arrest her and charge her..

Some part of its a game the law enforcement uses to gain funding, i argue this shit in school all the time. I even believe that run down communities with law enforcement troubles have members of the police to Abduct a child to gain support from the Feds... SICK YES, TRUE? VERY FUCKING LIKELY!!.

I think people have a right to know if someone who has a history of harming children is living near their children. But I think if you molest a child you should go to jail for life, first offense and never have the opportunity to get out. You done fucked up, pay the price.

    this is a good theory.

    but its only a theory.

i could just as easily say "i think if you commit a crime you should go to jail," and "if you never commit a crime, you should never go to jail," but neither of those are true...

Right- serious sex crimes already incur life sentences, I think. Or they should.

Well, it would be ideal if menaces to society lost their place in it.

Places in society are overrated. Laws are applied uniquely by each judge. Uniform mandatory sentencing will never happen because until their own children are kidnapped and molested, every member of the ACLU will fight to prove that incorrigible pedophiles can be rehabilitated.

They can't. It's already been proven.

some of the crime codes make no sense to me.. If the charge is RAPE, then why do they have Involuntary sexual deviated intercourse IDSI..
If they had IDSI and no RAPE, then how do they get IDSI..
I tried to compare them to B&E, and Burglary. Whats the difference.. Even the damn law instructor dont know. my school sux,. :(
