Is it OK to kill certain animals?

I believe it is, if its for a REASON, I do beleive killing animals for fun or pure sport is wrong though.

So anyways heres my question for you Peta fanatics. Why don't you ever raise a fuss about the killing of millions of insects just because "we don't like them, or they are icky, or they bite people" communities, companies, private residencies all poison insects that die slow agonizing deaths via poison just because its not convenient for these insects to be around?

you people will do everything you can to end animal research geared at finding cures for cancer, aids, etc. but this purposeless killing of insects seems to go completely ignored, i don't get it please enlighten me.

First of all, I'm not a PETA fanatic. Just strongly support animal rights.
About the insects, I don't kill them. Well, there are only 2 kinds of insects I kill: fleas and mosquitos (the ones which sting). And this is just cuz I don't want these little bastards sucking my blood.
Besides these, I kill no other insects.

 

I kill for food. Deer, rabbits, beans, chickens, carrots, whatever. My dog flushes them out and I shoot them. That is how it has ALWAYS been. And if Ingrid Newkirk and her army of mindless sheep get in the way that's just too bad. I could use a few more sheepskins.

 

Of course, it is a natural thing, if done for the right reasons.
It happens every day in nature.

 

I know very little about 'Peta' (don't even know that it stands for tbh) so I can't speak for them, but I have saved many an insect from death. I go out of my way to save something seemingly insignificant or lesser. I don't profess to be 'better' than anyone as a person for it, this is simply my choice. You may say its too much trouble to go out of your way like that, yet people go out of their way all the time to kill an insect. I make an attempt in the interest of the creature's life, just as they make an attempt in the interest of the creature's life. We both interact with the creature.

In humility, I cannot deny that if I am stricken with head lice, I will attempt to kill the lice. Though I have never had lice, and perhaps my above choices have something to do with it.

 

Same here! I've saved sooooooooooo many insects, too.
Lots of bugs fall into my pool and I always take them out of the water. My parents say I'm crazy for caring about so "insignificant little things", but it's something I can't avoid. I always ask myself "if it were a dog I would certainly rescue it (well, if dogs weren't able to swim), so why wouldn't I help the bug? It's a living being, too".

 

nobody has answered my question, you people protest and threaten researchers that are trying to cure diseases but nobody is protesting about people killing all of the insects for no reason other than "they don't like them around their homes".

everything is attached to the food chain,, u kill one,, a few more fall,, so im sure theres more people out there that take as many precautions not to kill as possible.and as for the insects,, theres ways to keep them out of your house without destroying them,, just cuz you dont find them cute is not an acceptablereason for killing something,, how disgusting we must look to roaches eh?

I said I DON'T kill the insects, I even rescue them from the pool. When I found some insect inside my house I will either just leave it there or put it outside.
But of course I'm not gonna start a protest all by myself, walking down the street wearing a wasp costume and screaming "DON'T KILL THE BUGS! DON'T KILL THE BUGS!"

 

I understand that animal rights advocates don't kill animals....other people do, for different reasons...im asking about why you people oppose certain cases but don't care about others. I'm not interested in what you personally do because its obvious that animal rights ppl don't kill animals, I interested in what they think about what the rest of society is doing

Well, I don't really know why advocates of animal rights don't protest about this issue, but I guess it's because they/we already know nobody would listen and would even laugh about it.
You know, when it's about animals like mammals, birds, etc, even if people don't give a shit about them they quite understand our point of view, but when it's about bugs they simply don't care and think it's utterly moronic to have this concerns, so we rather stay quiet.
My parents quite agree with me when I talk about saving bees, ladybugs or grasshoppers, but that's all. They say I'm insane for caring about ants and stuff.

 

I don't "oppose certain cases but [not] care about others." I seek not to control the actions of others. I don't 'protest' in the way you probably assume. I simply live by the way I believe is right and share with those who would accept it willingly. Forcing others is not the way.

 

I know that is not what it stands for.

 

I also only kill fleas and mosquitos... I wouldn't kill an animal unless perhaps it was in incredible pain and I wanted to put it out of its misery and could not get it to a vet... in that case, I believe my actions would be justified.

 

I don't kill anything at all myself, but I'm not some PETA nut either.

PETA literally killed one of my friends, for what it's worth.

 

I have a strict no kill policy but I will off mosquitoes on me and flies in the house. I suppose I might shoot an attacking bear. Luckily we don't have too many of those in SW Mi.
