Its wierd, because everyone around me wants to have a lot of money and stuff, but all that I have ever wanted to do is make enough to buy myself a houseboat and just drift. Even if I made a million dollars, I would buy myself a houseboat and give the rest away.

i don't know what you mean by you "don't want to be anything?" because, all of us here are something... we're all human beings.

well i saw early on that owning alot of stuff was crazy because, the stuff winds up owning you instead, of you owning it.
i never have owned much in my life even to this day.

now, for money... i never ever dreamed i would have this much of it!
i donate alot of it. i can live in confort on about $ 12,000.00 (u.s.a. funds) a year. i could have retired at around age 35 but, i like having something to do that i like doing. i don't ever see myself retiring and, just sitting in a rocking chair waiting for death to come and get me.
i was raised in luxury and i hated what i saw around me! so i scaled down my life from living in luxury to living in confort.
i don't live in my parent's house ( well, now that their dead, and they willed the house to me, it is now mine.) i rent it out to some college students.
i build a yurt in the backyard and i live in that. their house is just way, way too big for just me to live in and, it also has alot of bad memories in it too!

i see no reason why you can't make your dreams a reality.
be sure to check out the 'living on earth' and 'simple living' sections of the forum board here. the other members there can help you out big time!

I know what you mean. I don't want to be anything either. I just want to live.
    Just
    be.
I guess if anything, I want to be a farmer, because I want to grow my own food more than anything...

    I'm torn.

I don't want a super life of luxury, but I want what I want.

I want a life where I can travel the world when and where I want to. I want to be able to live where I want to. This requires a nice job (unless you are independently wealthy)...and thus the requisite education and experience.

So...I find myself on a path to a master's degree and the corporate ladder and waiting to see where that takes me.

I'd love to take bong hits, eat MDMA, and listen to music all day...but that's just not feasible.

I'd love to just make enough money to get by and live a more chill life, but I'd want my closest friends or that special someone (lol ;)) to be with me enjoying the same life.

oh i feel the exactly same!!!!!! well, replace the house boat with a house in the woods ..and it's so difficult for some people to understand. they don't understand why i don't want to go to uni, or get a 'real' job.

Right. The American dream used to be to make a living from nothing. Now, making a living is just the beginning and you're not successful unless you work your ass off your whole life to become a millionaire with 3 mansions and servants and blecch! I could care less about the whole thing...
Being someone who's grown up with limited resources, you can go one of two ways: go crazy and become determined to have your hummer and three mansions and fuck everyone else,
or you learn to band together with people, rely on them and have them rely on you, prioritize, appreciate what you have and the occasional thing you splurge on. It's not all about who has the most toys... There are other things in life to appreciate.

Money is insignificant. It only serves to get you, well, what it can get you.

I live my life scraping together as much as I need, then I take that and go somewhere, do my thing, and once I run out I come back to the real world to scrape together some more.

The ideal, of course, is to find something I want to do that will keep me fed and housed. I should be able to accomplish that this year.

The boundaries society attempts to instill on you are all illusionary and you don't have to comply unless you're so inclined. There are many ways to escape and do your own thing. Find what works for you and then go for it.
