    who made me hippy?
im not really sure, it started off i just listened to the music, which played a major part of my life, i went through the years of the 50s, 60s 70s and some of the 80s. they dont make music like that any more. the beatles, particularly john lennon was one of my greatest influences, and i started developing hippie values as i wondered where the priorities are set for the people in todays society. from there i started to embrace it and now im the "token hippie" at school. its a shame im the only one, but at least they can see me and learn to follow i suppose

how do my friends treat me?
not very different at all, not any more, at first, it was a bit of a problem, becuase it was where they were setting there priorities that made me wonder so much. but then i thought, they are friends, i love them, for who they are, i shall not judge them, or try to change them. a few arguments arose about them throwing their rubbbish, to wich i would ran after it, put it in a bin, and call them tossers. but they have now learnt, they dont toss it, and if they want to, im always more then happy to go up to them, take the rubbish and put it away myself. it seems to work.

and will i always be like this?
i certainly hope so. i dont mind if i keep the look or not, i dont have "the look" half the time, but i plan on having this frame of mind, this lifestyle forever, once a hippie, always a hippie. no looking back for me, ive never felt happier, freeier, more loved and content since i "stepped on teh bus" so to speak.

I've always been what you could consider a hippie. A peaceful person, I've never been inclined to yell or be violent. I used to cry whenever I saw some mode of violence take place that did not seem to make sense. I am loving and an enormous pacifist.

My friends are very similar to myself...they are also accepting of different types of people, which is why I love them.

I was born like this, I can't see myself ever changing so drastically. It is not something you can change.

    What influenced me?
My best friend Becky's sister Julia. She was (is) this crazy wild woman feminist, activist strong-willed lady. I just admired how, even when parents, men, authority told her to shut up, stop having an opinion, and sit down and listen to the teacher, she didn't. So I've taken her values and made them into my own.
How do your friends treat you?
They treat me pretty normally, except for the few jokes and hippie comments.
    Do you think it'll last?
Yep, has lasted 6 years so far. I do change, and re-evaluate my values and my self all the time, but that's only to make myself a better human. :)

    1. probably John lennon, especially imagine and give peace a chance, but also jerry and the dead.
    2. the friends i have like me for who i am, not for the clothes i wear or because im "cool"
    3. yes im sure it will last. its not a trend or a fad, its a lifestyle that alows you to be free and who you are, lets you do want you want to do and who you want to be

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?

    life's experiences

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?

depending on how close we are/the bond we share - some like to take the kick and give those 'take a shower you dirty hippie' remark while others can dig what i'm into. some just think i'm a complete nut, and it's true but what i think of a nut as is different to what they think of it as.
it's generally strangers who treat me strangely. cause, people are strange, when you're a stranger

...i hang out with whom i can connect with mainly

    Do you think it'll last?

    dude. yes.
    just bloody know it

I've always had the hippie mentality man. I'd have to say the 2 people that influenced me the most would be Tommy Chong an' Jerry Garcia.

when i first heard music that was music, from guys who would get on stage and jam, and you could tell that they were feeling what they were playing, and they were changing the world with the music they were playing. when i first saw pictures and read about kids my own age fighting the corrupt man with signs, and love back in the 60's and 70's.

    would I change?
Hell no, i dont believe I can be what people think as mainstream person, because i was that, but with a little love, a beautiful open mind, and plenty of hits of this, and tokes of that, I have evolved to what i am now, i am now a whole human being, im more human than human. I'm almost totally alive, i have some more learning to do though. im also in love with so much, and thats an awesome feeling once you get there, im just so content and wouldnt change it for anything. I'm at peace with the world

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
Well, my mom had me going to nature preserves and such when I was a wee little thing, probably in kindergarten? I was always all about nature and animals and taking care of living things. And I did a lot of volunteer work with my church throughout my childhood. The one spark, really, came when I was in eighth grade. I had a friend who got me into Phish and Ween, and in an acting class, we did "Aquarius" as a musical number. I rented HAIR the ngiht we learned it, and watched it three times over a weekend. At that point, I knew where I belonged.
How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
My friends are awesome... they're all really relaxed and open minded, for the most part. I hang out with a lot of the musicians in my town, and when I'm up at school, I go to a "hippie" school (New Paltz), where my friends and I volunteer at a fair trade/organic coffee bar. My school friends are my old roommates, and our mutual friends. We have a nice little group.
    Do you think it'll last?
    Of course!

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
My brother n law He was actually a big racist, but found God and became a very peaceful person. Everytime I saw him he spoke of how to accept everyone and treat even those who hate you with love and care. <- This started the idea

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
I hang out with the same friends, they don't treat me any differently.

    Do you think it'll last?
It is not a phase, IMO, just a change in heart.

Shit! There are so many teenage hippies...YAY! :D

    1) My friend showed me the light and my parents have always listened to 60's/70's music in front of me. :)
    2) My friends are the best people on the planet. Almost all of them are musicians and they listen to the same stuff I do. :)
    3) I believe it will. :)

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?

I'm happy to say my parents, namely my dad, are the most unsquare people ever. I frequent hip concerts and chill with him for sheer fun.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?

I prefer to run with nice, interesting, free thinkers. Most of my friends don't conform to the mainstream and never will. People around here seem to scoff at my "ways," especially in the beginning of the year but both sides have come to accept eachother's differences. Like outside opinions are valid anyway.

    Do you think it'll last?
I spent most of my life embracing hippie ideals and ways, such as creativity, anti-commercialism, individualism, idealism and leftism due to my parents. (Wow, that's alot of isms! haha) My feet are tough enough to comfortable walk upon concrete because of all the exposure to rough surfaces and outdoor grounds - I ADORE being barefoot and miss it after being in college so long. I drifted in and out of phases like my "punk" and "goth" phases during middle school. For a while, tie-dye and other hippie-ish things were the only colored clothing I'd wear. I still really like anarcho-punk rock and industrial/metal music, but I've always been really into classic rock and the like. I'm very versatile in terms of music tastes. All-time favorite band = THE GRATEFUL DEAD. My mother used to hold headphones up to her womb when she was pregnant with me and play them to me.

I don't think this is a phase by any stetch. I don't like to conform to a label of subculture but this seems to identify with the majority of my beliefs and ideals. :)

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
Well i dont consider myself a hippie really, but i get called one. I've always been kinda spiritual. but i did shrooms for the first time and all of a sudden i became more spiritual. that and i was going through a couple deaths and whatnot. so to become a better person i shed off the negativity and became a generally nice person.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
I hang out with people who are nice people? haha i dunno. i have some closer friends who have the same views so we all get along pretty well.

    Do you think it'll last?
Hopefully. i am sick of mean people or constantly rude/depressed/hurtful people and i dont want to become one.

Hi there :) i've seen you in chat...

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
My momma. She has a real spiritual peace about her. I will never forget helping her plant flowers in the garden, and veggies. Or thrift store shopping, or making hemp jewelry. When i had trouble with people in school, she just told me to relax, drove me out to the lake and we went walking. Nature just cooled me down. Shes influenced so much in my life, from my flower pressing to my intense tea drinking, to my obsession for candles and incense.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
Some call me a hippie, some love the way I feel toward things, and the way I dress. Some try to be more like me, but they end up buying high end clothes that are labeled "hippie section". Overall, they are all loving. And everyone is different. I only have one friend who i would consider a hippie like me, the rest are all different :)

    Do you think it'll last?
    Definitely.

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?

Well, I've sort of always been one, in the mind. But thanks to my parents that wants all to be perfect, then I was like 5-8 something I had to go in from playing with my friend because I had to wash my hair, just because they said so.
They don't really accept my views even though they can't argue about it. Can't dress the way I want without get attacked by them or let my hair grow, especially mom nags all the time about it.
My girlfriend's parents on the other hand are more hippies and thanks to them I realized that this is what I am :D I've got old 60's jeans and stuff to have from them, borrowed books to read ex. Jerry Rubins book "DO IT!" and so on.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?

Well, two calls me hippie but just for fun, they didn't get very surprised and my girlfriend is happy about it!

    Do you think it'll last?

Well, I am who I am right? ;)

    Long live Peace:peace:

I have always been the outcast. no one ever understood me because I didn't go along with the whole "success is what I'm for."and "to do anything in this world you need money"
oh, and the "what makes you who you are, is what you do with what you got" (my family has always told me that growing up to "inspire me" to succeed at life. my reply would always be "no, who you are is what you do. success, in the way you view it, is out of greed and ignorance. I will succeed at being who I am with out care for the judgment of others. and succeed at it is the least of what I'm going to do"

I have lived this life style for all my life (I'm 18). and I really don't care for the world that isn't in my head. crazy eh? no, not at all. just that thought has brought me to so many amazing places and times in my life. I will die with that thought on my mind :).

I have mainly been inspired by people who I lived in my life.

my father, an ignorant bastard (pardon my french) who abused me as a child.
my mother who is a hard core hippie head. but dropped me out of her life due to a mental disorder she had become over whelmed by, due to how tough her life has gotten (I forgive her)
my older sister who has always been my bestfriend all my life, and will always be. (also a hard core hippie head, but with a english major. shes always very fun to talk about conspiracies and philosophy's.)
my little brother, having autism and has a wonderful heart.

my best friend, who is completely opposite of me, but yet were like 2 straight dudes in love hahaha

and the amazing girls I have had in my heart as well.

The Beatles, jimi hendrix, stevie ray vaughn, janis joplin,
fear and loathing at las vegas, across the universe, and fight club have also made me who I am.

and all the journeys I have been on

keep on flowin with the water. it will always bring you to where your supposed to be.

if you try to be a hippy.
then your doing the opposite of being a hippy.
if ur trying to be a hippy, you have to have an ego.
and haveing an ego, is very un-hip.

    just be who you are.
why put a name on who you are? hippy?
lable yourself like a ceral box.
be who you are, make your own name for it.

    im a hiponatronalonagortaliousambareelaton.
how many of them do u see running around?!

i see many descents of the hippy subculture,
but a don't see very many TRUE hippies,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie

i mean, true hippies, dont even have the internet!
they live out with the earth under the moon and stars in the communes with there familys
though everyone that is apart of the hippie subculture is awesome.
i think its just time to break the mold and stop being one thing,
    live in the universal mindset
dont just limit yourself to being one way, dont just be a hippie.
    be EVERYTHING all at once.
    ya digg?

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
Its not that anyone specifically has molded me into who i am. because i don't limit my self to being just one thing. im everything all at once. It was more becuase the people apart of the hippie subculture know how to have fun. Down to earth people with intersting minds. Each one so unique and awesome. Each my friend, my brother, and my sister. I love how the hippie subculture does. It dosent even matter if you have met them or not, if they have a grateful dead shirt u can pretty much just walk up to them and give them a hug as if they have been your friend for years and years. Thats why i love it, its just the best way to be streight up. Its the way man should be. Its as if the hippie culture are the only correct humans and everything eles is just twisted.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
No one treats me as if i where something eles or a certian way. everyone just takes me as i am, though perceived through the normal humans eyes i would be considered a hippy. im just myself. an open minded happy person that loves psychoactive substances and really bright colors. With a deep repsect for earth and all her amazing wonders.

    Do you think it'll last?
    The future is a crazything.
    And with time comes change.
    so im not sure.

Even though my parents were definitely hippies, I don't think they really influenced me much. For the longest time I had this stereotypical, cartoonish image in my head of what a hippie was and didn't take it seriously until high school. However, I've always been pretty counter-culture, and after experimenting with goth, punk, and other weird cultures like that, I realized that I could be who I wanted to be without emptying my wallet on Hot Topic. If anything, my influence was The Beatles, which I started religiously listening to in 8th grade while pretending to be a punk. Over the years its become stronger and stronger and I think I've finally found something I'm settled in. I don't feel like a poser, I don't feel like I'm wasting money, effort, or time for something I am not, and I feel accepted for who I am. Because I'm so happy as a hippie, I feel I probably will stay a hippie for life.

My friends know I'm a hippie and like to remind me quite often. haha And I know that I'm known in school as "You know that hippie girl that plays the ukulele?" ^^ I start talking about the holographic universe and they just roll their eyes. I don't mind.
