It could be pointed out that the hippy movement has a long history of promoting openess and freedom in sexual expression and values, which is without a doubt a progression from the prudish, Victorian-esque attitudes to sex which were dominant before the 'flower power' era came into being.
I've done and enjoyed a lot of experimenting sexually. I've had a few threesomes, messed about with bdsm, done anal, group sex, toys, you name it. I've had sex with multiple partners in the same week, and clocked up quite a few sex partners in my life, maybe more than is normal. I don't know what a normal amount is, if such a thing exists. I've never ever forced or coerced anyone into doing anything that they didn't have a taste for. Many women I've been with have shared sexual fantasies with me that have no relation to exploitation but do deviate away from the so called "norm". I really find it hard to see the "women are always victims and men are always the victimiser" thing, women have a right to their sexuality too. However when someone is a victim it needs to be addressed, male or female. Taking advantage of someone's vulnerability is just not cool. Sharing fantasies with consenting adults is a different ball game entirely. Most stuff I have done sexually was to satisfy fantasies that I had since I reached puberty. There may be deep rooted psychological reasons but I was never abused as a child and never had anything in my history that I could consider being a link to any of the stuff that I have tried. I'm trying to sum up my feelings on everything I've read here and so far it seems to me that: Anything goes between consenting parties, no matter what it is. You may find stuff distasteful but it isn't anyone's right to condemn people for it. There may be a deep rooted psychological reason for certain sexual behaviour but so what? If it's what you truly enjoy and you're consenting, then fine by me. Pornography exploits a need that people have for excitement. the people who buy it can in someways be considered to be as exploited as the people who act in it. As long as there is a sexual taste for something there will be people willing to act it out on film, some of it isn't palateable to all of us. Women are not always victims, men are not always victimisers. The tables have turned a lot now and women feel far more empowered, not all porn is exploitative but much of it is. Some porn is made purely because the people who make it enjoy doing so. Some people do not have any great dilemma about appearing in porn, they are happy with their career move. (I've actually been offered this as a career move myself but turned it down as I could see the potential effect it might have had on my future ... I still had a choice and I was desperate at the time, but nobody ever forced or pressured me) Some people appear in porn when they really don't want to and life circumstances force them to make that decision. The reasons for people getting to this stage need to be addressed more than the results. People are chasing that 'buzz', the ultimate thrill. This goes with many things, porn is just one manifestation of that need. The sex industry is generally greedy and has an agenda that disregards the rights of many, other industry is also greedy but because of the demand for porn it is more obvious. While people want it, it won't go away. I get stimulated by sexual images, its the way I'm made, it seems to have been part of my sexuality since I knew what sex was. The industry recognises this in people and uses it to its own advantage. Solution = no idea Sex is a powerful thing ... Do what you want but be aware of the price tag
