Okay i need a belt really bad and i wanted to make my own. Anyone have any simple instructions for me to start with. I just need some ideas to work with..
depends on what material and what sort of craft you want to use, and how you want it to look like. how to make one simple and not to kong taking is i think a simple sewn belt. It can be made by two pieces of some not too thin fabric, just sew them on each other with or without a sewn edge, the closing can be made simple with two circles curtain hangers. picture from the curtain hangers in case you don't know what i mean: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2369/2052750244_e514c3f283.jpg?v=0 i hope i'm clear, if not feel free to ask questions. Also if you search for "free pattern belt" or something in that direction you will find a lot of example's.
At first when i read you made it with two circles i was gonna say no because i have seen pictures of others homemade belts with two circles and i thought they looked really ugly but i really like that one. You made that? Was it hard?.. okay if i do actually make this i might have to ask you a million questions if you don't mind. First question is your opinion on if you think that type of belt is to feminine for a male. I honestly think it looks sick but sometimes i get carried away with my own ideas of what things should be. Oh and where do you get curtain hangers? Craft store?
i did not mean cutting around, just cut two or one straight piece that works good i think. Cutting round is more for belts made from leather i thought. i made the one in the picture, but i crochet it so that is different from sewing of course. the curtain hangers i didn't need for a urtain that i had but they came with the system to hang the curtain. maybe you can find someting like it at an craftstore, but also you can find belt-closings at stores where they sell sewing stuff.
you can get buckles at a fabric store if you want them. they also have nifty other closures. i could never figure out how to keep a belt on with the 2 circles.
i will post a picture for you mother's love, only i have to wait till i have acces to the pc where the picture is on
I once made a cool belt out of Hemp with design and all was pretty cool worked pretty good to just used bigger hemp and more hemp
you can use a necktie as a belt.. Materials: 2 neckties (different colors or patterns) 2 small safety pins (use two small safety pins) Scissors (fairly sharp pair) Measuring tape (A ruler will do in a pinch) Chalk Procedure Lay out one of the ties face down on a flat surface and use your measuring tape to find where the tie narrows down to 2” across. Mark this point across with your chalk. Repeat with the 2nd tie Use your scissors to cut across your chalk markings. Sharp scissors and large cuts work best to prevent fraying ends Sandwich the two ties together, right-side in, lining up your cuts on one end. The backside of both ties should be facing out. About a ¼ inch in from the cut edges, use your chalk to mark where the ties will be connected Insert a safety pin, fastening it along your chalk mark. Starting at the top of that safety pin, insert another safety pin to secure the ties together along the length of the cut. Unfold the belt Hold the safety pinned part of the belt at your right hip and lace the ends of the neck ties through your belt loops around your front and back so that the loose ends come out at your left hip. Tie the neck ties together and let the long, thin ends hang down your leg. source: DIY Fashion
