The Bible says that near the beginning, the Sons of God procreated with the daughters of men. There are many such myths, and they probably reflect an ancient memory.
    It's guided evolution.

cosmic mushroom spoors. those seeded the primal ooze.

of course those cosmic mushroom spoors had to have evolved into existence somewhere for some reason, so none of the 'alien' answers are really complete answers as to origen, but only as to how there happened to be us HERE.

of course its still a matter of evolution, whether that evolution took place on THIS planet or on that of some suitable world in some OTHER solar system.

and evolution, while an observable process, may have been set in motion consciously, somewhere, sometime, somehow. that or unconsciously. to me it seems rather pointless to speculate as to which.

the whole question of origen seems rather pointless actually, as we may be able to statistically determine probability, but any pretense of certainty is likely to remain forever speculative.

i think it's probably a pretty safe bet something invisible didn't just pull us, fully formed, out of its ass. a pretty safe bet, but even that can never be an absolute certainty. i just don't see it as favored by likelyhood though.

I honestly think evolution had the most to do with it and possibly a bit of creationism. Either way, God is responsible for it all.

Oh really, y'all?? Y'all seem pretty sure about that. I wanna hear exactly what is behind y'all's thinking, because maybe I need to be enlightened.

I'll get to the evolution bit in a minute, I just wanna talk to these two a little about religion, because that is at the base of the argument, no?

I believe in God, God is infallible and almighty, but religions have messed everything up. Why do I think Religion is so wrong. Religion has been the cause of more murders (by war, genocide or otherwise) than any other cause in the history of man. And I don't think any Religion is correct, so I don't think the "heathens" are going to hell just because they don't believe in our God. (And I say our God, because I do view God as the Christian Church does, I just don't agree with the way they portray Him) But too many people take the Bible to literally be the word of God. I don't buy it.

Here's the way I see it. The only person, religion or whatever that ever came close to writing a story about God, is Kevin Smith, with Dogma. See, I believe there is a God (And God makes an appearance in the movie), there has to be something driving this whole thing. But, what I don't believe in is the Bible, Qu'ran, Torah or any of this gibberish. Like Chris Rock, the 13th apostle (He wasn't put in the good book, because he's black, so the writers left him out.) says, (And I paraphrase cause I can't remember the exact quote.) "Having a belief is difficult, beliefs are difficult to change. Having an idea, though, that's better. You can change an idea." Cause ain't none of us ever gonna know the real truth. Well not until we die and find out where we goin. So, just having an idea is better, cause you can change your ideas. I mean, the Church killed Galileo over his beliefs, didn't get him very far, did it. Turned out the poor bastard was right. You know that in 1979, the Catholic Church finally came out and said "Um, we, uhhh, wanted to, um, apologizeforkillingGalileoforsayingtheearthisnotthecenteroftheeverything, butthesunis. Goodbye"

Now, I ain't saying a bunch of comedians have figured it all out, what I am saying is that none of us will ever really know and I like the idea of just having an idea, not a whole system of beliefs. So the way I see it, we need to stop fighting and killing people in the name of our gods or our God (However you see it) and just be good people. If there is a heaven and hell (Of which I am not going to opine on, cause I ain't got nuthin to say there.) I think that we get placed based on how we behave.

BECKYBOO52???? CAN I LIVE???? Are y'all still with me. Stay with me now. .

    ChrisGriffin are you reading this?

I know I get really verbose, sorry.

Now, that I've gotten that religious bunk out of the way, I will say that yes, we descended from the great apes. It is a fact. It has been proven beyond reason of a doubt. The only reason that people have for denying evolution is that they think it contradicts God's word. It doesn't contradict God's anything. (that's why I wrote all that above.) God is still up there doing whatever it is He does. Maybe He has millions of other planets with life upon them that he has to look after (Don't even try to sell me some ridiculous story about this being the only planet with life on it in the whole universe. And you're not going to sell me the Brooklyn bridge, neither.) The only thing it contradicts is the creation theory of the Bible, dreamtime theory of the aborigines of Australia and every other story that was created BY MAN to explain how the earth came to be.

Religions were created BY MAN about 8000 years ago to scare the weak into submission. The leaders said god umbooboo is going to eat your head if you don't sacrifice your first born (or something similarly stupid) and the weak said "Yes Master"

Maybe, this is just an idea that came into my head, something I've never thought before, MAYBE we are not the culmination of evolution on this planet. We've only been around for 10000 years or so. A blink of an eye, geologically. So one day, maybe a baby will be born telepathic or one that has extra arms or can fly or will be able to solve any problem instantaneously. Then we will no longer be at the top of the heap. Evolution will have moved on.

My Goodness, I need to stop writing here when I drink beer. I talk too damn much. Sorry y'all. Just very opinionated. Would love to hear comments, rants whatever.

i live by the lessons in the bible, not the actual words. i beleive the stories, but not the details. the only reason man killed themselves over religeon is only because man is a bunch of idiots and should not be allowed to own a bible, scriptures, torah, or any other religeon oriented documents. it is good to hear the stories and lessons but the actual word of god shouldn't be there. fawkes, i think that your tenth paragraph is full of shit (sorry to be so blunt) first off religeon has been since the first cornicopia of homo erectus first appeared. i know that with i being 14,and you being 30, my ideas are probably trivial and pointless. sorry, im being kicked off the computer now. ill wright more another time when i have a moment. ttyl, have a good day

Carbon matter within the earth's atmosphere, developed either naturally or with the aid of some form of existence - be it in physical matter or a force (preferably from outside of the earth's atmosphere) - with time. Manipulated evolution comes to mind. Then again, there were thousands of psychoactive plants, fungus and other growths in a world inhabited by monkeys.. doesn't take the mind of a neurologist to wonder whether psychedelics played a huge role in evolution and maybe even acted as the key or catalyst; introducing the concept of concious thought, communication, creation, - in the long running process from monkey to man.

Another possible idea is someone from another planet that resembled humans time traveled, ejaculated into the primordial ooze, and changes history.

God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and scientists have been able to trace us all back to one woman.
