Stephen King books are really awesome. Right now I'm reading "The Eyes of the Dragon"
Anne Rice's books are pretty good too.

How about "Wicked: The Story of the wicked witch of the west"? It's this great sexualised (in parts) story of Elphaba (the wicked witch) as she grows up in a world that rejects her and how that shapes her...Spins a different line of thinking from the Wizard of Oz....

    It's by Gregory Maguire

Screwtape Letters, CS Lewis has a very differnt way of looking at every little situation, the book is also cut up into simple 3 page chapters, each dealing with a new topic. Not the best book I have ever read but great none the less.

Pipe Dreams, the life and times of Kelly Slater, if you like to surf, Kelly is the epitome of a surfer, he does it for fun and doesnt take it seriously anymore. Its a GREAT book.

The Meditations on the First philosophy by Rene Descartes. It is a pretty trippy book that can blow your mind. I don't even know if I am sitting here typing this right now because I can not trust my consciousness.

yeah it is pretty cool. He starts of by trying to rid himself of all false prejudices. He realizes that everything he knows comes from his senses and that he has no reason to trust his senses, I mean he could be dreaming he doesn't know. So then he goes on to attempt to prove the existence of god based only on the idea of god (I think it is called the ontological arguement). Then he goes on to conclude that the mind is seperate from the physical universe. It pretty much set the course for all of modern western philosophy.

You should read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. It's easy to read and it poses some really great questions. Since I read that my eyes have been more open to some of the things I once thought of as fundimental truths.
