What a fucking genuinely great guy with a heart of gold old Peely was. There's to few people like him in the world as it is. He's been fucking stolen from us. Bastards.

I had the pleasure to meet this lovely man three times and have listened to his Radio 1 programmes regularly for over ten years since a late teenager. He meant a great deal to me.

My thoughts go to his wife Sheila, his children William, Thomas, Alexandra and Flossy and his grandson Archie.

With a glass of red wine.

I'm think I'm going to play "teenage kicks" really loudly (and twice in a row too)

I don't know what to say, I'm truly shocked. I thought he would be around forever! He introduced me to so many bands, and for that I thank him immensely. He will be very sorely missed. RIP John.

Tomorrow, Friday 29th October 2004 at 12midday... Peel fans are observing 1 minute's noise for John Peel. Play something loud and obnoxious. Personally I shall be playing Melt-Banana.
