    Oh my fookin god!
I knew there's lots of weirdos on this planet, lol but that is just WOW! Do you honestly want to tell us that your "god", if he exists, would approve of someone like George W. Bush? Honestly, I mean, although I don't believe in any god, if there is one, he certainly would NOT in any way!
George Bush is dumb beyond limits and has done so much wrong. I'm not saying Kerry would be any different, cause he's probably not much better. But right now American people should show Bush that it is not right what he did, that they are not happy with how he did his job!
But well, I start to believe that this is all gonna repeat itself, but I have to say if Bush gets re-elected I will have lost the last bit respect for the USA I have still kept. Sorry to all peeps who are with me on that, it's sad but true.

666 is the number of man.... The antichrist will be also be a man. He will be a man that promises peace and change. The world will be decieved by him.

Layna, thank you for sharing your testimony.

Even though I don't think that one is better than another, between Kerry and Bush, the only thing that bothers me of Bush's campaign is his stand against stem cell research.

Thousands of people are critically ill, and this type of research will help them overcome their illnesses and disabilities. I even have people in my own family - some living in the U.S. - who would be directly affected, positively, with stem cell research. If the government takes this away, they will suffer much more than what they are now, and probably die.

I was wondering how you felt about this particular issue in Bush's campaign?

Okay... no pledge of alliance to anyone for me as I'm ( at the moment thankfully ) not an American.

God, in my opinion, is a lie. Moreover, faith in "him" has caused more pain than happiness for most, and is a source of intolerance and the disappearance of countless ancient cultures, both by mass murder and replacement of the mother culture in favour of christianity. Bush, unfortunately, is real, but the same can be said against him: America has claimed more innocent victims in other countries than all terrorists together have ever done. I do not support terrorism in any way and I condemn it, but America has been equally needlessly terrorising countries all over the world.

I have never understood fundamentalists of any religion. How they can so fiercely believe that whatever they worship is real, and how they can believe some of the things they do in favour of their deities is good and beneficial is beyond me.

I am very sorry for you that you have been raped, but I, and most people here with me, prefer not to be converted. My aversion against religion and Bush lives on. Thank you.

yes, and he will be a lot more popular than Kerry, and he will also bring a lot of miracles to the table..so don't even try to say kerry is the antichrist because he's talks about winning the peace and change, the peace is because there is none, and the change is because we are in a war created by the bush administrations..that's why he says we need a change, it all comes from this stupid war..

Why is it that so many Christians get soooooo upset about abortion but never flinch when GWB and so many others kill men and women with the death penalty? If forgiveness is one of if not the most important beliefs in the Christian faith. Why do they or anyone think they have the right to take a life?

Bush even smiles when talking about the people he sent to the chair!

    He must be de-throned!

I've not read this whole thread, nor am I going to...I've read enough of the beginning posts, hopefully, to get the drift...Layna, I respect your beliefs, but I have to disagree...I am worried about the seeming increasing lack of separation of church and state that George Bush appears to represent...I do believe in God, but I am not Christian, nor will I ever be...and will I be persecuted sometime in the future for my pagan/shamanic beliefs? If things go the way they very well might, it is possible that I will be one of modern day "witches" persecuted for my beliefs and practices. I can't see supporting a president than cannot see the dignity and purpose of my beliefs, even if he believes differently. Again, I respect your opinion, but I do not share it. Many blessings to you on your journey!

Support Bush Cheney? Are you crazy?

They've run up the highest deficits in history.

They've sent Americans to Iraq under false pretenses (you really think with all the intelligence information they available to them that they really believed that Sadam had enough WMD to threaten the United States?) They simply found any excuse they thought would convince people as a justification to invade Iraq and now put the blame on the CIA. Now over 1,000 Americans and thousands of Iraqis are DEAD and the country is in chaos and will probably end up with an Islamic fundamentalist government no friendlier to democracy or the US than Sadam was. And while the Bush administration was obsessed with Iraq, they let most of the real terrorists get away.

Bush and his buddies in industry have done everything they can to reduce environmental protections including clean air, clean water, old growth forests, and the Artic Wildlife Refuge. Bad air and water threaten our health, but do they care, certainly not.

Bush has always sided with government power and uses terrorism as an excuse to gradually take our rights away using the ridiculously named "Patriot Act" and its amendments not to, as Reagan said "get government off our backs," but to put government right on them.

If reelected, Bush will do everything he can to stack the Supreme Court with the most right wing judges he can find who will be sure to take more of our rights away.

Bush doesn't support average Americans. Bush aids have supported outsourcing which sends American jobs overseas. Bush has done nothing to either fix the health care crisis or to prevent the eventual collapse of Social Security or to secure Americans better working conditions. Bush is a hired gun for special interests in the oil, timber, and health insurance industries, and that's about all he is.

I get this idea that people think Bush will somehow change in his second term, but why would he? If anything, he’ll get more extreme. Don't give him a chance, vote Kerry (he's the only option to Boot Bush, and frankly, I think he'll make a damn good President).

    Dear Layna Jan Wilson,

As one other forum member said, you do have a lovely name. However, flattery will only get me an extra ticket on the side of the highway. At least that's been my experience... anywho...

I haven't been a Christian for quite some time, having chosen my own path a few years ago. But you can't make 20 years of Jesus just 'go away', not that I want them to. From what I was raised to believe, Jesus was a kind, gentle soul, who even went as far as to go against his 'magistrates' to spread that kindness to others. (there's a beautiful drawing someone did in the galleries, the first I'd ever seen of Jesus smiling. Smiling! The biggest, kindest smile I'd ever seen. Even bigger than the Brawny man's!) I don't recall Jesus 'shutting his trap' because the Roman government told him to. He stood out from the crowd because of how strongly he felt about his beliefs and was ultimately condemned by it. This brings to mind 2 questions: 1) Was Jesus the first hippie? and, 2) Why hasn't anyone formed a religion around Martin Luther King Jr.? They both held kind, strong beliefs on peace. (Those 2 questions may or may not be rhetorical, by the way:))

It was in the core teachings of Jesus that led me to believe that my path and the Christian one, really aren't all that different from each other. ('Love thy neighbor', 'do onto others...', 'an harm ye none, do what thou wilt.') Many have disagreed with me on this, but that's a coin in a whole other collection plate ;).

Again, my history may be off, but wasn't Gandhi a Hindu? We pagans aren't really the baby eating, bunny burning heathens we're advertised to be. I know quite a few Buddhists who wouldn't even think to step on a bug before finding out if it had full medical (not a joke but an incredible simulation!).

Another thought to keep in mind is, you were once yourself a hippie, but then found your own path, or way to enlightenment. We appreciate you sharing that with us, but please, don't push it on us. Our souls are ours, for the time being. You found your own way, so will we. Sure we'll trip up every now and then (or some of us will just 'trip out' ;)), but who doesn't? Life is about self discovery and the things we learn along the way. There's beauty every where, and in every culture and religion, or even in the lack there of.

I hope this somehow clears a path to understanding between us, even just a little bit.

    Blessed be,
    Robert

It is sad in my eyes that a country like the USA can do no better than a man like Bush - clearly a self-seeking idiot who only occupies his position only because of wealth and dynastic considerations.

Or maybe intelligence isn't an issue in electing the most powerful man in the world?
As regards his 'christianity' it is beyond a joke.

    hmm,
Brothers and sisters. Layna is right. It is good to have a higher power to believe in.
As with Layna, mine too is God. But, my God seems to be a bit more versatile than Layna's. God is too big to fit inside one person's idea of a religion. He takes the good and the bad, the druggies... excuse me chemical travellers (is that better) and the straight edge, the hippies and the yuppies, the democrats and republicans. So what do you really believe in? I've had friends who just dropped everything they used to believe in and got all paranoid about a religion they didn't truly understand to begin with. Unity will not be brought about if people like Layna choose to embrace the teachings of just one school of thought. I 'm not bashing Layna though. I love her like everyone else. But Layna one last thing to think about:
Would the world need unity if we were already the same?

    Love Love,
    Grim G.

This is my second reply. Forgive me for being a bit spacey sometimes. I wish people would realize that it's not all about who gets elected. At least I think it's not. I think emphasis on the "think" that people should worry about what they're going to do if Kerry or Bush get elected. Like maybe you should have a game plan for both. I don't think it will matter who gets elected personally. As a people we need to band together for what is right. If enough of us get together and speak out for what we believe in, then and only then can we make a difference, no matter who is in office.

    Love Love,
    GG

P.S. It is not polite to talk about politics during a drum circle or while passing the beloved peace pipe.

I want everyone to conform to my athiest views? Whoa... newsflash! Where in the hell did I say that in my text addressed to you? I believe taht this world needs the diversity it has, if everyone was an athiest, a buddist, a christian, whatever, this world would be boring. The diversity of the people on this planet is what makes it great.
I never try to spend hours refuting god or wahtever the hell's up there, I merely live my life. I chose this way of life, and I enjoy the life I'm living now. I've been through a lot of tough shit in my life. A troubled family life for the beginning, my mother was told when I was 8 months old she had breast cancer, and 8 months to live. She lived for 8, almost 9 years in the name of me and my brother. She passed right before my 9th birthday (which is also right before Xmas) and since then I've been stuck with a controlling, dominating father who doesn't understand me and refuses to TRY to understand me in the first place. I've lost my uncle, who was the guide of my musical journey, and just this past Xmas eve, I found my grandmother half dead on her kitchen floor from a heart attack, and I spent every day until she died, (including all holidays and my birthday) at her bedside, until she finally passed on Ukrainian Christmas, which is January 7th. And yes, my family is a family of proud Ukrainian heritage. There have been many other htings, but knowing you're not gonna want to hear them anyway, I'm not gonna waste my breath. But we all have bad stories in our lives, you're ont the only one.

And who said I've never stared death in teh face? I was born with a severely underdeveloped set of lungs, and ever since then asthma and other problems have plauged me. There was a time in my life where doctors and specialists were telling my parents that I was never oging to live to see my 5th birthday. Well, here I am. I remember many a time when I would be laying in a hospital bed, my face blue for days, floating in and out of daylight, not able to think; the only thing I could concentrate on was hte wheezing sound coming from my own being... 24 hours a day. It's a scary thing, something you've probably not gone through for years on end. There have been tragic things in your life, yes I know. We've all had something. But in things like that, and other scariers accidents such as car wrecks which I've been through, has that ever ONCE turned me into a Christian? Hell no. I'm happy the way I am, thanks. And I never remember laying there, not being able to breathe, wondering "OH LORD WHY WONT YOU SAVE ME? SSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAVEEEEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" No, if I'm meant to die like that, then hey, that's the way it is. I can happily say that I've been able to live my life the way I wanted to live it, (minus things like family and such - which are out of my control anyway) not letting anyone force their own beliefs on me and change my ways. So why should I sit here, listen to you preach, and change my life when I'm perfectly happy with my set of beliefs and morals, and for hte most part, the way my life goes? Like I said before, you take the good with the shit and the shit with teh good. And deal with it. And most importantly, GO AND LIVE.

And lastly, you can't expect people to listen to you when your'e calling them ugly and fat, and other such names. That's just plain childish, and considering you age, I thought you would have figured that out by now. I'm only 14, and damn, even I know better than that. (Haha - telling someone my father's age that they're doing something childish - who woulda thought?:D) And I CERTAINLY did not appriciate your little nickname for me. Everyone on this earth has a name ya know, and mine happens to be Sarah. Or Phoenix, depending on your preferance. Or even just flowerchild if you're so impersonal.

It's actually a quite harmless symbol of appreciation in the metal scene, much used at concerts. Obviously you think all people who listen to loud music of any kind are in league with satan, but we are not. I can not deny its long-lost former connection to satanism, but putting a curse on anyone, come on, you can't tell me you really believe that everyone at metal concerts is putting a curse on everybody. We can love too, you know, and most of us are not at all violent, nor are we satanists. In fact, among us are quite a few christians. And YES they do the horns sign as well.

So, most probably, George Bush is just a metalhead, which is cool, but he's a stupid fuck so I think that you're really better off without him.
