Today i bought some t-gel to try and reduce the amount of dandruff ive got, and i also bought some bicarb to wash my hair with, therefore you can all assume that the dreads will return pretty soon. Woop! I intend to do the twist & rip method.. might need to recruit a friend or two A question about the bicarb.. how much do i use.. like if i have a litre of water, will a tablespoon of bicarb be sufficient? Will thyme oil help regulate oil production, or should i be gettin herbs and making my own kinda thyme tea? I mentioned this in another thread.. will lemon juice to lighten my hair work on a tint? Most of my length has a colour from a box, but my roots (about 2 inches id say) is natural growth Any more hints etc would be appreciated =] iggy:
Hey, I'm a bit puzzled about the technicalities of the twist and rip method. It's sounds kinda...violent, lol. The main reason I'm confused is that other dready activities which I thought were relatively harmless get slated by soaringeagle for damaging your dreads, then something with the word "rip" in doesn't seem to bother anyone. What am I missing? How's it done and how's it preferable to anything else?
ive had two sets of dreads done by backcombing - its good for giving the illusion of dreads and for holding the hair in sections while it sorts itself out and tangles up etc. personally ive found that after 6 hours or so of backcombing my scalp starts to hurt a bit, and when its washed the first time alot of it fell out.. SE is very much a fan of just leaving your hair to do what it wants to do, ie, no help from you start the dreadies. which is true, it doesnt 'need' backcombing or ripping to dread,, but the methods just give it a headstart. twist and rip... ive never tried it before, so i cant say if its good or not. a couple of people on here have done it and say its good etc, but i was just ganna give it a go and see what happens. if it fails i can fall back on the good ol' backcombing =]
twist n rip is somewhat dammaging probly, but niot as agressive as backcombing, the ripping isnt really ripping although some ruipping may occur basicly, u twist it all up,k split the end in 2 (randomly) then pulkl apart forcing knots down towards the base then repeat it should be quicker then backcombing still will hurt though and still does some dammage just i beluieve it may not do as much
T Gell Rocks... Its also fun watching the bottle suck it back in... Can't wait to start following your progress.. Im worried about you mentioning a tablespoon to a litre.... O dear to me... Half a tub!!
well last time i used it, i used all of what was left in the tub (about 150g) and a huge bowl of water and it did jack shit (this was when i had dreads btw)
With twist and rip, you get much faster and tigher results. I backombed most of my dreads, they only looks decent at 6 months. I've redone a couple, with the rip and twist, immediately they look awesome xD Works really really really really well for long loose hair And lemon is recommened as a natural hair lightener yiiiis
ok the bicarb question sorry i difdnt mean to ignore it 1/2 a tubs way way too much a teaspoon too lil i use a gallon of water aboutr and between 1/3 and 2/3 of a cup of bicarb if u use a liter id go with about 1/4 cup or so ..roughly as handfull
watery with a lil milkiness in color maybe lil foaminess ion the top if its thinckened atall its way way way too much a handful should dissolve almost instantly if theres lil clumps at the bottum give a stir the second its wet it should dissolve if theres any thickening that means u used way more then could be dissolved whenm i use a gallon pitcher i pour in enough to cover the bottom maybe 1/4 inch deep or so thfuill with water if it was measured in ratios id have to guess at 50-1 or so lets see i suck at math if theres 1/4 to 1/2 inch of bicarb on the bottom of a pitcher thats aprox 12 inches tall yea its between 50-1 and 100-1 at a gallon 1-2 handgfulls ids good so 1/2 gallon 1/2-1 handful, ..liter ..well a liter id pour in enough to covcer the bottom boyt 1/8 to 1/4 inchy or i guess a centimeter for u brits (guessing i dont sdpeak metric) u can experiment im never exact i just pour.,.lol but if u use too mkuch might be hard to rince and too likl wont do alot u definately dont need 1/2 a tub tho thats wasteful a big box of arm and hammar has lasted me months and months and barely put a dent in it..it wasnt a new box when i started using it and its still at least 1/2 full
It will explode with happiness... Its like... Hmm... Ever stuck a dissolvable vitamin c tablet in your mouth thats meant for water? Its fun .. Msn Mrs D?
hadta look at how boig a 200g tob is that is pretty damn tiny and at 80 cents im guessing 1/2 the price is the pachkaging ok yea i just looked arm and hammer baking soda a 1 pound box is 10 cents more then that puny lil 200g tub i dunno if theres a 2 or 5 pound but im betting the larger u go the cheaper per pound and doubt 5 pounds is over 2 dollars and would last ya ..a couple years easy id definately recommend u get the largest box of arm and hammer u can find othgerwise your wasting a lot on a lil plastic tub that tub gives u 2 washes u say.. a bocx that costs 10 cents more gives u hundreds of washes...u do the math
