whos your role model, who do you use as a benchmark to see how successful you are as a person in the area which interests you what ever it may be (sport, science, music, maybe even soical aspects (a friend or parents maybe)) so who is it?

my role model is Hunter S Thompson (many of you may not know who he is but he's a fucking dude)

I don't really have a role model. There is no one person that I could say "I wanna be just like them".
I just try to be the best "ME" that I can, and look for advice when needed.

hmmm.. Im not sure if I really have a good 'role model'...I suppose a lot of my older friends are..the ones who inspire me..Celebs..not really..O..I told my mom once that whe i grow up I wanna be Mandy moore lol..I dont like they type of music she sings lol but you gotta give her credit for being one of the few gals in hollywood to cling to her morals.

    OJ Simpson.
Some people may not know who he is: he was a Heisman Trophy winner from the 1960's, and one of the GREATEST running backs of all time.

I don't have one actually. I just strive for my personal best and what's right for me because I am fickle and my goals are ever changing

yeah olhippie, i agree with you - my dad was a good person not without faults. i to tried to be my own role model but i am not good enough it seems :( - so in terms of famous people i would have to say robert smith from the cure - i think he is talented but really good at what he does and john coltrane for his discipline faith and dedication, and allen ginsberg and richard brautigan just because they see beauty in everything and are not scared to alter their perception.

    peace

I'd have to go with Sinead O'Connor. Besides the whole one-hit wonder thing, she's one awesome chick. She takes shit from nobody. I mean, she tore up a picture of the pope on live TV! That takes major balls!! Let's face it: the U.S. has a wide variety of religions, but it's mostly a christian nation. However, for an agnostic (like me), I'd have to applaude her willingness to stand up to everyone like that. Oh, and if there are any christians on this thread whom I offended (although I don't see how), then sorry.

i had one turned out she wasn't a very good one though so instead of using someone else as a role model for success i just go by my own feelings.

maybe i should of asked who inspires you, i completely understand why people are saying "i just be myself" when the coined term "role model" pops up in front of them, i always thought the term to bring sense of effort to a situation
