But how can you claim this wasn't what his supporters were expecting, when he said he would do exactly this, they voted for him, and then he did it.

    You are backtracking.

I think Obama told us from the start he would seek Osama out even in Pakistan. Which is more than Bush's promises of Smoke Him Out, and Dead or Alive ever did. Obama was clear in the debates against McCain that Pakistan was open. I am not surprised.

Always wondered why we supported Pakistan while they let our terrorist enemies infilitratate and killed off their democratic politicians. I don't see this as a contradiction. I see this is as a strength of character.

And perhaps during our next election we won't hear or see video from Bin Laden. Perhaps he's vacationing in Kennebunkport or Crawford?

A new report just released on CNN states that 63 percent of Americans saw Israel's military action in Gaza as justified. Just 3 in 10 felt it was unjustified.

Even among Democrats 52% supported Israel's position.
The (52%) majority also felt the use of force was adequate or insufficient.

Based on this poll, I don't see much change coming in terms of Obama's and America's support of Israel and it's right to existance as a nation.

I don't know if this belongs in this thread (since it refers to Canadians) but I thought it provides reference to the American position.

    From ipsos-reid

Among the 85% of Canadians who have actually been following the events to some degree, one in three (36%) believe that Canada should take sides with Israel, while 13% believe that Canada should side with the Palestinians and Hamas.

Thinking about the Israeli response, Canadians following the events are split: while four in ten (39%) believe it has been 'appropriate', one half (49%) thinks it has been 'excessive'.

But a plurality of those following the events blame the Palestinians and Hamas (43%) for the current conflict in the region compared with only two in ten (18%) who think Israel is to blame.
