Unfortunately as an Irish person I wouldn't be able to go to Colombia, I wouldn't be able to get a visa, it's practically impossible for an Irish person to visit Colombia due to the IRA links with the Farc rebels.

I love Colombia . . I have traveled there several times with human rights delegations with Witness for Peace to meet with human rights activists, indigenous leaders, campesino organizers, and union activists to learn about their lives and struggles . . . heartbreakingly beautiful meeting people with such love and courage who go on struggling for justice in the face of terror in an incrediblly beautiful and alive country

uhm.... I'd go to Cali to see my aunt, but I'd rather not due to the countless kidnappings and infiltration of rogue fighters. It's dangerous as fuck over there.

    YAY COLOMBIA!
My entire family and I were born there unlike them, I was raised in the US. I try to go once a yr (Medellin) but with airfare prices it's getting a little harder. I have never been entimadated by the medias reports on colombia. Yes, kidnappings do occur and people have died but it's like that in a lot of countries. Shit, when my good friend and I went to Brasil she got robbed right in front of our hotel in Rio. Needless to say you arent 100% safe anywhere but you got to make the most of it. Dont let what the media puts out there frighten you, Colombia has some AMAZING scenery that should be seen by all..

I am part Colombian as well from my mothers side but I was born in the U.S. I lived in Cartagena since I was little and moved to America around 9 years old. From what I remmember it was a beautiful Cultural place and experience along with Bogota y Santa Marta. I'm sure I will go back someday.

Never been in Colombia, but in CR there are a lot of ppl from Colombia. One once told me that the biggest fear of the people who have been there is that they would like to stay there forever. Besides that I can tell you that it's one of the countries with the more beautiful women in the world, also I love the way colombians girls speak, I love the accent it has this certain chant, rhythm, flavor jajajaja saborrrrrr

I will be going to Colombia in August to visit and communicate with different peaceful human rights groups. I am so exited, its really cool that i found this board with people discussing the beauty of the country. It seems to be making me even more exited to go :)

For those who have visited from the US to Colombia; are there any shots or vaccines that you received or that you think are nesessary?

    thanks!

I love Colombia, also! Out of all the Latin American countries I have visited--Colombia, Venezuela, and Mexico--Colombia is, by far, my favorite. The people were like no other, the food was great, and there was plenty to do. I was never bored. Never!

Plus, all those warnings I heard about this country were wrong, as far as I saw. I actually felt safer in Bogota than I do in Orlando.
