Living it up in Budapest at the mo, tis lovely and cheap over here and some of the sites are unreal. Lots of beer, wine and good food, what more could one ask for?? Also I never though my limited German would come in handy cos alot of people don't speak english but can speak German . I should have some photos to put up when I get back.
would you say it was better or worst in most aspects than Ireland, what are the people like, i thought budapest was in... i well....... it cant be in germany
It's far cheaper than Ireland, twas hard not knowing any hungarian. Compared to Paris, Belgium etc etc not many people knew English. I know a little bit of german and never though it would be so helful especially for directions and the like. Loads to see and I went to the Opera house last night to see a Ballet. It was fantastic, the ambience, the decadance, the ornate decoration combined with the elegance of the music......I could keep trying ot describe it but one has to experience it to understand, anyone with any interest in classical music would love it. I also visited the Turkish thermal baths which were fantasic, natural thermal waters, saunas and natural steam room, a legacy left in Hungary from the days of the Ottoman (turkish) Empires rule in Hungary. Also went to loads of museums and the like to much to list. I'd highly recommend it though. Photos to follow soon.
I'm home now, only got home about 10:00, went on Sunday on a freebie with the parents for a few days.
haha it's horrible and bares no resemblance to any other European language whatsoever!! At least in other European countries you can make out things written outside shops and certain words.
Well, that's not exactly true. Hungarian is very similar to Finnish and I'm POSITIVE you couldn't understand a word if you went to Finland. (Yess, I'm Finnish, don't let the location fool you ) Anyhoo, glad you had fun! Budapest is such an awesome place.
