This isn't supported by the facts. If what you argue were true, you'd expect to see a steadily rising tax burden. However, the tax burden has remained reasonably constant for a long time now.
I think tax has risen alot since Labour have been in power though hasn't it? I'm not sure quality of service has risen by the same rate.
if they want money, ol' papa Greenspan jus' prints off a few billion in new currency out of thin air.
All taxes do is take 'real' money, earned through some tangible, beneficial labour. It is a tool to control the masses by taking their power away.
Not really. Taxes have risen, but they've not risen by much. Taxes actually rose by more under the Tory government. More importantly, taxation as a percentage of GDP has been fairly consistent for decades, and the UK tax burden is still significantly lower than most other European countries.
So those taxpayers would spend that money on repairing roads, organising healthcare, putting out fires, looking after orphans, etc.? No, they wouldn't. People who say taxes are stealing tend to be the same people who wouldn't pay them if they could avoid it and vote for whoever promises to lower them while - surprise surprise - magically producing more money from somewhere to increase public spending. Taxes have done more for this country than you have.
