Hey, has anyone seen Donnie Darko? the directors cut came out earlier this year but its not showing here i guess. i heard in england its out on a 2 dvd directors cut released earlier in october this year. i heart donnie darko
Aye it is. I've only seen the original film though. It made me want to dress all in black, listen to death metal, and slash my wrists before shooting myself....
It was a bit of a shock when that girls head got ran over. I thought it was Frank coming to help them fight the bullies, who have that bad ass knife. Oh I love it.
it was a bit of a shock to find lots of my friends thought it was a wonderfull film and id like it only to watch it a feel someone somewhere owes me some life back. very poor film.
Great movie....I wish I could have gone out to see the Director's Cut while it was in theatres but thats ok. It has such a huge cult following....come on people drink the Kool-Aid!
"i heart donnie darko" I heart Donnie Darko too, I love ambiguity in a film, it means so much to so many. Buy DD now you funky little death dodgers. http://www.play.com
Best movie ever if you havent read the philophsy of time travel book yet, check it out here: http://ruinedeye.com/cd/time1.htm
Such an awesome movie, so realistic in the way the family unit is portrayed. I think it's a love story at heart. It's so damn good, I find it hard to watch, cause it just leaves you with a feeling like "Damn..."
I love donnie darko, and the music just makes the film better. Especially the bit where tears for fears is playing, and it's going round the school. It's a difficult film to understand, but it's definitely a good film.
I feel like the biggest dumbass but I only saw the movie once- drunk. I didn't understand it. Can you have some sympathy on me and explain a little?
donnie darko is a an all american teen who sleepwalks and has weird dreams where frank the rabbit man tells him when the world will end. this haunts donnie and saves his life at the same time. man, theres really no way to expalin that movie. the more i think about it the more i realize thats why its a full length motion picture and not a 23 minute sitcom. you should really watch it again. so worth the movie rental. and if you can see the directors cut im sure its even better and deeper. so awesome wonTon + donnie darko
I didn't understand it.... its about the fact you don't matter a great deal , but then again you do.....i just made that up (if that was not blindly obvious) their are lots of interpretations i guess. It made a bit more sense when i knew that when he gets hit by the engine he goes back in time, to the start of the film when he is on his bike .... anyway this may help more than my drivel. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/search.php?searchid=469176
Basically the movie is about how one person's life can affect everyone else around them, whether they know it and deserve it, or not. When Frank is telling Donnie that the world will end... that's not literally the end of the world. It's when he will die and his family and friends will feel like their world has come to an end because of the loss. What I really think is happening is, people say your life flashes before your eyes when you die. So when the engine lands on him he's got that split second in which he is traveling back through time and seeing how everything would have been even worse if he had lived. He sees that he wouldn't get along with his family, his girlfriend would die, school would be horrible, etc. He becomes enlightened and comforted with the thought of death as he's reliving his life (finding out about time travel and such). Yadda yadda... blah.
Personaly i found it not very deep and not very meaningful... but neither am i... the more you are the more the films gives you. i liked the track at the end (got to No. 1 over here a last christmas wich was diffrent).
