I admit the only reggae on my computer is bob marley....I need some more but don't know alot so help me out!
burning spear - the gladiators - the viceroys -toots and the maytals - don carlos - lee perry - culture - bim sherman - peter tosh - wayne jarrett - peace
a good place to start might be the joe higgs record 'life of contradiction' the marley stuff is produced for american ears, a lot of earlier reggae is not the higgs seems like a stepping stone to me, and still in the classic period later reggae is easier to get into, but i don't think the quality is always as high, there are days when i absolutely cannot STAND to listen to black uhuru, for example [or don carlos, sorry heru] every day is a good day for burning spear though! abyssinians - augustus pablo - big youth - culture - horace andy - linval thompson - mighty diamonds - prince far i - tapper zukie - u roy - yabby you - peace
Agree with the other two guys, real Reggae guru's. i could also recommend joe higgs as that is really where anyone should start in Reggae. I could also recommend Alton Ellis as a starting point. I'm gonna have pics on here of my dreads soon. Over a year of preperation haha.
i should add that a lot of people like luciano i don't listen to anything after 1985 as my head is up my ass
some of the stuff i like would include peter tosh, barrington levy, junior kelly, mystic roots, some rasta boti, marlon asher, jah mason, and deffinaltey elijah prophet. edit: i cant believe i left out, ziggy marley and damian marley.

Rebelution and Soldiers of Jah Army or good, and I agree with the Imaginary being, Slightly Stoopid is real good, they do some great Bob covers
Los Carfes, Gondwana, Cultura Profetica, Dread Mar I, Resistencia Suburbana-> great reggae in Spanish! But: Moonlight Dub Experiment, Fuerza Dread, Kingo Lovers, Mekatelyu, Salomon, Un Rojo, Talawa-> Amazing reggae from COSTA RICA!!!
Rebelution, Passafire, Tribal Seeds, SOJA, Pepper, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad. That's five current American reggae bands that are killer.
