not that all you dirty vegisex heads. i cant eat out at a restaurant unless its an all veggie restaurant without thinking that the same guy who prepared my salad had blood soaked hands. people tell me, "don't be so finnicky about it," which to some extent i agree with, due to my reasons for being veggie, but its so avoidable at a restaurant. unless its a special occasion for soemone, i dont think ill be eating at many restaurants anymore

I thought this was going to be an argument about how eating girls out is against vegetarianism. The only things I get at fast food returaunts would be, nothing.

yea the feeling i get when approaching and getting a whif of that noxious fast food stench would probably about equal to the level of nausea id get if i sat down in a slaughter house for tea.
i was at a restaurant with may family in nyc for my dads birthday, a good place and well known, only thing is, its sorta a classy steak house, 95% of everything on the menu had meat in it. luckily, we had an awsome waitress who told me what she could for me and that she was happy to do it, so i felt much better about eating htere

usually whenever i do eat out, i go to asian restaurants, and order under the vegetarian part of the menu. but man, one time i went to this buffet place, and then i saw some woman use those tongs to pick up some salad that i was going to get, and the tongs touched her dead animals. So, i dont trust buffets now, because now i see that theres a higher risk of your food having traces of dead animal on it. Usually I just cook recipes from my vegan cookbook, so.... yay.

yuck, yea a buffet of any sort i wouldnt trust, but even restaurants with a vegetarian part of the menu, like how do you know that the knife they used to cut the meat wasnt the same one cutting your broccoli? again, it can get sorta hard to function like this, but i think my days in restaurants are numbered

Unless it's got entrails all over it, then that's not that big a deal. If all it did was touch her chicken or what ever. You shouldn't be that stuck up about shit.

Heres the scoop, I have been working in the restaurant industry for over 10 years now, about a year after I finished Culinary school ( I started to open my eyes to the brutality/cruelty the animals went through before I recieved there cold dead corpse vaccum sealed in a plastic bag....but before not to to long ago it would have just been called dinner. Anyways I run a Kitchen at a Mexican restaurant...the owners are vegetarian and great people... our entire menu can be done vegetarian with quite a few dishes that are vegan, plus I have many times before easily accomodated other vegans and made dishes not on the menu. I NEVER allow any kind of cross contamination in my Kitchen. Its not because im vegan and being extra aware (maybe a small bit) but its mainly about being trained properly....even if you eat meat you still should never ever do that...its the number 1 way of food poisioning. BUT what can happen is At the same time you guys are sitting at your table bitching and complaining about where your food is...the kitchen staff is taking the time to clean shit off properly so there is no cross contamination....however the waitress comes back and say the table is asking where there food is...and you start getting in shit and you need to hurry up and get that food out...what do you think that cook is going to do to get you that food faster next time? is hes going to clean it and get in shit for taking to long....in my kitchen you bet....in others....maybe...spin the wheel and find out.
Just remeber next time you go out, ask your server to inform the kitchen that you do not want ANY of your food to come in contact with meat (get the point accross) but tell them they don't need to rush on it. Your not going to wait that much longer and they are going to appreciate you giving them the time they need and will definatly make sure to make you happy.

Indian food places have great vegi meals....I generally trust the restaurants I go to..because I usually don't waste my money at ones that wouldn't be good.

Exactly and if you really think about it there is a very small possibility if you are ordering a salad or pasta or something vegetarian that meat is even being worked with in the same area. Even if it was a meat dish the pasta and veggies(not in all cases) if they are served separately are made separately. All you have to do is get a tour of the kitchen and you will see that there are separate work areas for different things and you don't need a knife for pasta and they wouldn't use the same one they used to slice meat. I would suggest getting a tour to make you feel more comfortable and think about it the way you would think about cooking at home, you wouldn't use the same utensils for a salad that you use for your pasta would you, unless you've washed it between, so chill out. It's fine. really.

Oh yeah, I wasn't talking about fast food, I would avoid fast food altogether unless the stuff is uncooked like subway, etc. The reason they do it that way is b/c the emphasis is on being cheap and fast(obviously).
Actually I didn't even know they had veggie burgers at bk, probably more for health conscious(somewhat) people.
