Yeah, unbelievable as it seems (especially to ME ). The Muslims, the Jews and the Christians ALL know the boundaries of the land God gave to Israel. If we refuse to leave their land, when asked, i don't see that they have any other options than to run us off of it. i mean, how would you feel if someone moved into your house while you were away, took over one of the bedrooms and made themselves at home. Then, when you came back home, they refused to leave, so you tried to throw them out. When that didn't work, you called the police, but because you broke one of their hands, NOW you're the bad guy. Heck, it's only a bedroom in your big, old house. So you're stuck like Chuck with these squatters. But wait! They are really starting to hate you now ~ i mean, you have that WHOLE big house, and you want that little bedroom back? So now they start lobbing those M80 firecrackers down the hallway, into your living room, and at you whenever you walk past the bedroom they're in, and no one will do anything to help you, because YOU are the "Bad Guy" who won't let these poor misunderstood folks just run roughshod through your home, and in fact, are keeping them out of the kitchen, thereby trying to starving them out. Well, i imagine you get the idea.
If we're going to be like that then all human life seems to have originated in Africa. Just because we all left does not mean we have a right to this land does it?
Here you go: http://www.enduringword.com/commentaries/0507.htm Amazing isn't it how all these holy books in passages preach death and destruction? Perhaps, one of the main reasons I follow none of them.
Do we? Or are all of us basing our beliefs on translations, redactions and interpretations? I personally have had no direct contact with God, he never actually talks with me. I don't think most Sunday Christians know that Islam is so closely entwinded with the Old Testament and New, they are not your advesaries, they are your brothers. As Ishmael was to Isaac. Like most dyisfunctional families. Don't chose up sides.
Translations, redactions, interpretations? Uhhh, no. i believe that my God is all powerful. That said, He can make His Word, the Bible, say anything He wants it to say. Just because a man's hands set it down DOES NOT mean that God didn't cause exactly what He wanted to say to be written. i mean, He wouldn't be a very great god is He wasn't even in control of His own people, would He? Abraham was the father of Ismael, by a maid named Hagar, and was his first-born son. God promised Abraham that He would give Abe a son, but the years went by, and Abe and Sarah doubted and tried to second-guess God by having Hagar sleep with Abraham, in order to have the son. Because of that disobedience, although Ismael was allowed to become the father of a great nation, the Muslims are considered the bastard off-shoot of God's chosen people. Now, up to the point that the true heir, Isaac, was born, (btw ~ Abe and Sarah? 100 years old when that happened! No wonder they doubted...), the religions coincided, precisely; however, after that point, there was always friction because in their heart of hearts, the Muslims KNOW that they are the result of the "yeast" of other belief systems that have led them astray. THAT's why they will ALWAYS be at war ~ the Muslims, that is. God told all of us that the sons of Ismael would harass any and every Jew, because of that disobedience, and the contamination of their true faith. It's harsh, i know, but God cannot abide unrighteousness, and will not abide disobedience. Last, but not least, my God talks to me, all the time. i open His Bible, my eyes perceive the words, and my heart absorbs His teachings. i hear Him talking to me through strangers, friends and even through my own self ~ some of these posts about Him that i've made to y'all? They're for ME, too... Every time i read the Bible, i can see myself ~ my foolishness, my selfishness, part of how the "yeast" of all that went before in my life has affected my ability to understand, etc. i can also see His love for me, and for all of us. But, see, that's where we come a cropper ~ people who don't believe, can't understand, and those who do, can't explain.
THAT has got to be the best line of bullshit a husband gave his wife for fucking the maid I have EVER heard.
ROFLMAO!!! No kidding! But actually? Sarah agreed. Hagar was HER handmaiden (maid), and she and Abe talked and thought about what God had meant when He told Abe that they would have a son. They just came to the wrong conclussion ~ instead of trusting in God's actual WORDS, they started thinking in terms of this world. Sarah was WELL past menopause when she conceived and bore Isaac. Heck, she was OLD when they decided to let Abe sleep with Hagar! But they tried to put interpretations on what God had said to them. They looked around, and thought "science" knew better than God. i mean, i'm only 54 and i'm post-menopausal. My expectation of having any more children is absolutely NIL. i can definitely understand their consternation. (And if i turn up pregnant tomorrow, i'm blaming Y'ALL!!! ) You know, sometimes, the words mean the words, and if you choose to second guess those words, there are consequences. i don't imagine that Abraham and Sarah ever experienced those consequences, other than what God told them would happen because of their actions, but could they have ever guessed that our entire world, and the plight of Israel, ALL hung on that ONE decision? And neither can we. We see a distorted reflection, sort of like that philosophy scenario: If you were confined to a cave, and all you ever saw were the shadows that were cast as you passed by the firelight, you would think that the world was populated by shadows. You would think that YOU were just a shadow, that that dark shape was a reflection of you. It is, and it isn't, but you can't understand it until you're out of the cave, and can see TRUE reflections, on water, on metals, whatever. That's where we are, folks. We're trying to explain everything with science, and we aren't taking into consideration just WHO made the laws of science. We interpret and interpret, and we just can't figure it out. When you stop to think about all of the things science CAN'T explain, you come to the realization that there is, whether you can understand it or not, SOMETHING / God that made all of THOSE laws, too. We can launch ourselves off of this planet, but have no idea what lies at the bottoms of our oceans. We can fly through the air, with the greatest of ease, but we have no idea of what 75% (a low guesstimate) of our brains are for. Science (reality) is what we believe in, but i'll personally kiss the ass of anyone who can explain what it's all about. (Which, btw, i'm sort of looking forward to doing, the second i hit heaven!)
QUESTIONING HAMAS TACTICS "Rockets -- I think this issue needs to be stopped for sometime and restudied," he said. "Once we have a missile that can reach the heart of Tel Aviv and blow up a building, maybe they can resume fire." http://uk.reuters.com/article/latestCrisis/idUKLH714807 ..lol..
Fyrenza Are you suggesting, with a straight face of all things, that the ancient tribes of Judea can "pop out" for a few centuries, and rightfully expect nobody to have settled and lived in the lands they left behind? Especially when those tribes can barely be said to exist in their old form, and had largely intergrated into European and American society for hundreds of years? This is not, in any way, like having a squatter force his way into your home. This would be like Ireland suddenly invading the UK because it used to belong to the celts.
That's why zionism is racist. You have to belong to a "tribe". Religion is beside the fact. Look at what Israel does to people who are not of this tribe. Look at who is footing the bill that enables them. End US aid to Apartheid Israel. Prepare for bare store shelves from the embago and boycotts that will follow. It's time the people of Israel got the message that they have so often imposed on others. Democracy doesn't work if the people don't listen. It turns into something else and it has. x
One day people will realise that labels such as "Jew" and "Palestinian" are fallacious and facile ontological misconceptions. Then we'll feel very embarrassed about the people everybody killed
That was a comment made by a taxi driver a father of five Palestinian children. It shouldn't be construed as made by all Gazans, or those in power. Much as Obama stated that he would as a father seek revenge on any that sought to damage his family, why should this individual be held to a higher standard, or maybe we should consider him of lesser status like Fryenza speaks of Ishmael, since he was born to a servant. Personally I find both viewpoints understandable, in that a father wishes to protect his children. I find neither acceptable in that each seeks to destroy someone else in order to do that. I think there are other options.
In your view of God as all powerful, then he allowed Abraham to sleep with Hagar...do you think he viewed Hagar as merely a servant? As merely a servant she was not acting with free will she was forced. Do you think he views Ishmael as less than Isaac simply because he was born of a servant forced to consumate a relationship with her master? And as far as god not abiding disobedience isn't that the reason for Jesus's life and death?
BINGO! God IS omnipotent. He allows each of us a freedom of choice. He warned us what wrong choices could do, and after actually SPEAKING to Abe, and PROMISING Abe a son, Abe got impatient and tried his humanly best to figure out HOW God was going to make this come about. Yes, because Abraham made a wrong choice. He didn't trust in God. Slavery was an accepted way of life for them ~ many parents sold their children into slavery, in order to protect them and save their lives. It was also accepted practice for a man to sleep with his wife's maid ~ the more, the merrier, as far as children went. God gave Ismael a good life and a good family. He DID NOT make Ismael hate Isaac ~ Ismael choose to do that, on his own. To us, Gardener, it seems horrible ~ but a lot of the American slaves didn't want to be freed, either, because THAT was their life, their homes, their security. And i've got to tell you, the Israelis were, for the most part, KIND and considerate of their slaves. Heck, even Jewish people sold their children into slavery ~ better that than to watch them starve to death. God gave Ismael a good life and a good family. He DID NOT make Ismael hate Isaac ~ Ismael did that, on his own. ~> It's a little shocking to me to find that no one realizes that the Muslims are still living in those ancient times. In fact, if anyone wanted to free Muslims/Palestinians, why aren't y'all concerned with liberating the women? Okay, one more time ~ Jesus is a PERFECT HUMAN BEING. He never sinned. To wash away sin, there must be a sacrifice ~ a PERFECT sacrifice. Once we accept the fact that God sent Jesus to be that sacrifice for us, to wash us clean of sin, we are adopted into God's family and have an inheritance in Heaven. That's the only way for us to be pure, again.
