OMG, no!!Latin isn't a musical language at all, and the grammar is way too messed up...some rules seem absurd to me. I prefer Ancient Greek...much more fascinating. But the best modern languages are Italian and Spanish...so musical, and I think they're sexy too!:p Just my opinion, though...

i know that being an italian may sound as an erethic!

but the language for aptheosys to me is Latin.. 2nd place goes to the Gaelic language
    3rd the English/American of nowadays!

i don't really like italian culture even.. it looks old and dusty to my eyes.. insted i love ones from other countries... they have something of exotic and charming that i can't find im my own! too bad..

2nd for Gaelic, cool :) I can speak Gaelic. English as a language sucks. Spanish/Italian/French/Portugese are all far nicer. Also Latin is a dead language at this stage.

Also I think everybody seem to find other cultures far more exotic than their own.

I dunno, Irish(or Gaelic) has some similarities to Latin that the celts picked up
off the Romans before they left mainland Europe. So it has cases and all that complicated stuff. Its a pretty hard language to learn. And as for English? Its my first language (being Irish) but i thing it's a Goddamn Disease. Preferisco l'Italiano.

    Hi, I'm new to the forums. I actually speak a dialect of Italian, but I'm not so great at the more common form (what you're all speaking). I wouldn't mind some help, too. ^^;

I know the grammar and all, it's just the vocabulary, idiomatic phrases, and word order that sometimes confuse me.

I think that silent breeze lotus would to learn a little italian, and not would to learn some information about latin or greek...
    Understood?
I'm sorry for my english, I'm not so good...
Anyway, I think that If we write the messages in this topic in english and in italian, he/she could understand something...

    Traduzione per Silent breeze lotus:

Penso che silent breeze lotus vorrebbe imparare un pò d'italiano, e non imparare qualche informazione riguardo il latino o il greco...
    Capito?
Mi dispiace per il mio inglese, non sono così bravo...
Comunque, penso che se scriviamo i messaggi in questo topic in inglese e in italiano, lui/lei potrebbe capire qualcosa...

:) Italian is a great language and I would like to speak it well.
 Italiano è una lingua grande e vorrei parlarlo bene.

    ARE-Verbs go like this:
    Verb endings:
    I - o
    You - i
    He/She/It - a
    We - iamo
    You (plural) - ate
    They - ano

    Example: Parlare - To Speak

    Io parlo -I speak
    Tu parli -you speak
    Lui parla - He speaks
    Noi parliamo - We speak
Voi parlate - You (plural) speak
    Loro parlano - They speak

:) So verbs in italian are easier to learn than those in English.
Così verbi in italiano sono più facile imparare dei verbi in inglese.

Hehe, well I could spend I long time trying to teach what little I know, but the best two phrases to truly know are Ti amo and Ti voglio bene...

    :) In amore,

    Diana

i'd rather write (=piuttosto avrei scritto) "L'italiano è una grande lingua e vorrei parlarlo bene"

"una lingua grande" in italian means something like " a big tongue" eheh..[IMG] but if you write "una grande lingua" it means " a great language", more or less...più o meno..
LINGUA means both language and tongue..that's why i think italian is harder to learn!
but i really suck with grammar! (faccio davvero schifo in grammatica! )
anyway now i'm so confused it makes me laugh...sono così confusa che mi vien da ridere! wooooooow
    :)

What a great thread! I'm interested in learning italian as well. But i'm a real beginner so i won't show my stupidity ;)

I have a question...What's the difference between Ti amo and Ti voglio bene?

Ti voglio bene seems milder, like "you mean a lot to me" or something like that...Am i correct? I'd be grateful if you explained me.
