Is there a possibility of the burning denatured alcohol contaminating the water you are boiling? The pot i use is 4inches in diameter, and about 2 inches deep. I was cooking with it using SLX denatured alcohol, and once in a while i saw the flame creep up the pot.

When the flame does this, can it somehow infuse with the water and make it toxic?

    Thanks.

The alcohol doesn't burn. The evaporating fumes do. There is no worry of contamination.

The only advantage is that an alcohol fire can be doused with water.
