I want to know what everyone thinks about the war on drugs our goverment is doing. I saw this movie war on drugs the last white hope. Then I read this article http://www.nationalreview.com/12feb96/drug.html and it made a good point but then i read another opinion about it and it also made a good point. So let's get a convo goin about this. Myself I am not a big fan of it, maybe instead of a war on drugs we should stop spending money on building new prisons and filling them up with people that are there for drugs when there just gonna go back again, and the people that are there for violent crimes that are the cause from the drugs they are taking, Instead we should spend the money on rehabilitation/therapy and drug awareness instead of these commercials that are just tryin to scare kids into thinkin they will become a strung out junkie from smokin pot. Also we are trying to stop the coke from getting here by helping south american troops to bomb and destroy cocoa plants that have been used in there culture for centuries and spreading chemicals leaving people with other crops without a way ro make money leaving people poor , I know some might bring it to people that will turn it into the coke we see today but I dont really know enough about that to state my opinion. I also read that the cia had a helping hand in transporting the coke from south america to our country. so yea I'm gettin tired of typing but there a start of my opinion about this so called war on drugs.:cheers2:
The war on drugs is a waste of money and time... According to my economics class--if there is a demand, there will always be a supply...In other words there's nothing we can do to stop it
I dont believe that there is something we can do about it but its not the 60s and 70s anymore so people are not goin to protest this, there to busy having fun and tryin to work for the people that are makin this country suck. Its all about money man, but they say life goes in a circle so hopefully people will get smart and stand up instead of just complainin
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. ~ Thomas Jefferson Just one of many Quotes from T.J about freedom
I am hopeful that people will be able to stand up against the war on drugs it is causing loss of life and is a waste of the tax payers money especially where pot is concerned.
Once war has been declared it's already too late. Someone's already gone down the wrong path, looking at things the wrong way. Why does it have to be labeled as a war anyhow? Ever notice how if you yell and scream at someone or try to force your hand (go to "war" with them), they'll pretty much stop listening and start fighting back? If you "won", it was only because you used enough force to finally intimidate someone enough to get your way. Not because you actually changed anyone's mind. And the act of using force to keep someone from doing a thing which you don't like, after so long, ends up generally making the subject of your frustration feel quite rebellious, and possibly inclined to do more of whatever you are objecting to... This seems to be human nature. As is the act of seeking out the stimulation of mind altering substances. So how is a "drug war" supposed to stop people from WANTING to do drugs??? Anyhow, it would appear that the government is involved in an awful lot of drug trade themselves. Which makes the drug "war" pretty ridiculous, doesn't it?
Apparently nobody learned from the prohibition of alcohol era in the U.S.. Its just history repeating itself. People are going to drink and do drugs whether its legal or illegal. History has already proven that the "war on drugs" is futile and cannot be won. It causes more harm then good to the people that its supposedly trying to protect. This link has lots of good info on prohibition and one can easily see the direct parallels of today's situation (about 1/2 way down the page) - http://www.mcwilliams.com/books/aint/402.htm
I just wonder what can be done to find a solution. Many families have been hurt by the war on drugs. It is not just a war on drugs but, a war on families and people.
All drugs should be legal. It's a personal choice, END OF STORY If you get addicted to heroin, crack etc, then you're a moron
I wouldn't wish that on too many people! Wouldn't it be nicer to wish that your drug dealing neighbor would get a real life? Or maybe move away. Or perhaps get help for his addiction? That's the whole trouble. Too many people just think "locking up" drug-folk is the answer to all their troubles. And THAT, my friends, IS the drug war... Creating prisoners of war isn't the answer.
The war on drugs is not only pointless and wasting money, it is also harmful to society and illogical. First of all in Amsterdam where pot is legal they have a lower percentage of pot users, so if the govt. wants less people to use pot, they should legalize it. Second, if all drugs were legal we would be able to regulate and tax them. Our national debt would probibly be gone with the all tax money we would get. If drugs were legal alot of organized crime would be gone and we wouldnt be paying taxes to keep drug users in jail. And finally if drugs were legal we would have less younger people addicted to drugs because CVS doesn't want your 6 year old daughter to be addicted to crack, but that guy on the street corner who sells it does.
To be honest, I wish worse things on him than just getting locked up. I don't feel bad or sorry for him in anyway. He's the one who chose that lifestyle. But I would settle for him moving far away and becoming someone elses problem.
I talk sometimes to some friends in Amsterdam, and they tell me that pretty well the only pot users are stupid North American tourists. There's some talk of tightening the laws because of them.
The FIRST step would be to de-drug pot, as to say take pot off the drug list. Isn't that all the fuck we want is our pot. We don't want no stinking needles or no tooters, we just want our pipes and papers and our wild Flower to fill them up. Write to the new president, ask for scientific proof where Cannabis harms the human body, when none can be produced, demand that it be legalized for medical use and that the ones imprisoned for pot to be released at once. R J Renolds already has MJ fields ready for the change over. Alcohol is 10,000 times more of a threat to us then MJ. The only time pot is a threat to the family unit is when the system cages you for the use of it. Now it's ok to be fubared on pills to the point of unconscousness, your chin on your chest, drooling like a moron, using Zanax, Zolof, Amialtriptoline(sp) and other chemical altering manmade posion pills to 'medicate/control us with. It is OUR CHOICE what we do with our own bodies, not the governments. It is nota WAR ON DRUGS but a WAR AGAINST THE PEOPLE!!! We must let our president know what we really, really want. We must make him aware that if he doesn't not DELIVER we will not re-elect him. Hilery will be an obstical, her n bill, even tho they smoked pot themselves will be totally against it. But if We as a people demand that the decriminalization of MJ be put into affect right now or no re-election, then we may have a chance. Get off the pills ppl, get back to the natural habits of living. Free yourselves from the prison that traps your mind and robs your Spirit. If Obama is for real change then he will do what is good and right For The People. He is our representative and works for us. Arent we the ones that pay his wages, then he must be persuaded to listen and obey our requests. It's really simple, I dont know why it's been such a difficult process. Just fucking do it!! It's called UNITY folks, it's called The Majority Rules. Write a letter to Obama. sh
