I own a purebred chocolate beagle and I brought home a 3 month old kitten. I know dogs and cats don't get along, but this kitten HATES the dog and has spent all of his time hiding in my shoes where the dog cannot get to him. At 3 months, is the cat doomed to hate the dog forever or can he warm up to him?

Also, I'm pretty sure the kitten was abused. He's very conscious of his back legs and even hissed at me and scratched today when I was trying to move him. Is there any training I can do to get his temperment to change, or is this something that's just going to take time?

This is tough but with time I bet the cat will warm up to the dog. After a good swat in the face the dog will realize the cats no joke. Keep on eye on them so the dog doesn't hurt the cat until it gets old enough to defend itself.

Well the problem isn't really the DOG hurting the KITTEN, it's the kitten hurting the dog. He's really mean to my dog and really just can't stand him. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?
