My car door is frozen

Any suggestions as to how I can get into it? It's over -26 C here so I'm aware that if I pour boiling water onto the window I risk shattering it.

I dunno :S Can you chip the ice in the cracks of the car door?

 

I've tried that, it's just not opening. I was told that once I get the bloody thing open to spray it with WD-40 then it shouldn't lock up again.

 

spray it with PAM cooking oil or sim.
edit: your rubber trim, spray the trim and the ice will not stick. after you thaw it..

 

Alcohol de-icer. Warm water will work, but try to wipe everything dry afterwards to prevent it from freezing up again.

pretty much what everyone else said, de-icer should work.

 

Warm water will work just fine as well.

 

Unfortuantly I have no de-icer, and I've been told that in -28 C any kind of drastic temperature change could shatter my window.

I hate canada.

...just put it around the edges where the ice is and wipe it off so it doesn't freeze over.

 

I'm going to wait until the sun comes up a bit and see if it gets any better. Annoying fucking country.

 

use a hair dryer on the cool setting....it works in a pinch

 

I always back in so the sun is on my winshield and door.....it works great because my truck is black...I hardly ever have to scrape the windshield and my door doesnt freeze

 

It finally opened.

 

All you had to do was say 'open sez me.'

I have only ever had that happen once... and I had to have a neighbor open my door for me. Ice sucks.
