I'm a bit too young to be a real hippy, whatever that is, but always felt that there was something important and almost hidden in those ideals. But what the hell happened?

What a mad brilliance it was..."Love is free but it ain't cheap" Chris Smithers

JB and Joan tell the story of the fall:

May we rise again, a lot smarter

    Chris Smithers is brilliant.

I was going to come in and say Iowa to be snarky, but quoting Smithers saved you from my mood.

we're hidden in the heart of every child and in the bud of every blooming flower.

"Hippie" isn't a group of people that are all old or dead now. "Hippie" is a word for ideals that have become less prominent as time changed. They're still there though.

    I'm still here, anyway. :)

Things go in cycles. There have been "hippie" movements before. They seemed to fade away, but then eventually they come back. Just like other social movements.

The'res a new rise right now I think.. so much people have realised that violence does not make society a nicer place to live in, and have realised that we're not growing right now.. we have to shed our old beliefs and embrace nature again:)

They're all drug fucked. Seriously. That's what brought down the hippie movement.

your never too young to believe in peace and love
its possibly the most beautiful thing to see for the youth to look at what the hippies did in the 60s and find relation to it

Why do you think I'm wrong? Well, I do see bits and pieces of the whole hippie thing here and there, and I think it's great. I'd like to revive it. But if you look at what it's become now, it's like, world music and rave music. Not really what it was in the 60s, it's just different. Well, I don't think we can argue about that. But if you watch any documentary on the counter-culture they'll tell you that the reason it fell was because too many of them got drug fucked, and it just didn't have the strength to go on. There's a line in Easy Rider that's like, "No, they're not going to make it." (Referring to the hippie movement.)

all the bandwagoners and people along for the ride gave up their 'hippie' lifestyle. the real hippies are still around. a hippie that is genuine never abandons their post.

that is such a beautiful way to put it. i really couldn´t have said it better.
the conditions to ´be hip´ which is to live in accordance with that set of ideals have become harder to find as the world got colder, harder and more superficial. its harder to remember the true significance of love nowadays.

I agree with SpaceChive, a new movement is on the rise.
The good part is, most of the kids I see that rock peace signs and such, are actually anti-drug. This means any movement that may come about is bound to last longer than the movement of the 60's.

ive seen that the hippie culture is better than what is was like 10 years ago, ive been meeting tones of hippies out on the highways, even my friends are going with the groove, B.C. is a great place, fruit picking and stuff, you just gotta be open and travel to find them =)

pretty much just let the wind guide ur feet =)
