Independence and Insecurity - what's the difference between these two. My girlfriend thinks that not accepting help (for example, help with computer problems, help with opening a jar, etc.) is part of what makes her an independent person. I think that, assuming it's clear that she needs the help (because either she asks for it or because her efforts yield no good results), it really just means she's insecure. I think this would be obvious because she bitches at me any time I help her, even if she accepts that she needed it. She disagrees, of course.
