How balanced do you think the media cover the Israel/Palestinian "war"?

I am trying to stay politically objective. Sometimes it's hard to find the best wording.

I try to stay objective, I find it reprehensible that you are trying make me out as an anti=semite. I am not. But that seems to be the way the Israeli lobby operates. Someday you'll wake up and see it works as well as bombing the shit out of Gaza. Way to win friends! Perhaps time to hire a new marketting firm? Maybe contract with Sarah Palin, she seems to garner some media coverage even now, or send the three amigos new plane tickets? Perhaps they can build your coalition.

 

That is one possibility.But there are others

It would be a good strategy for a super power that had pawns surrounding Israel to start moving them.

That whole part of the globe is a complex chess game between superpowers to think that there is only one strategy going on is just to simple.

 

So Lebanon is a pawn, bet they would be overjoyed to be viewed that way.

I don't think Israel cares at this point, they are pushing their muscle. The three amigos told them it was alright to challenge Obama. They are pushing it. Politics are one thing out right slaughter of innocents is another.

How so I balance 17 casualties against 700+. I was defending Colin Powell against the treatment he received from the Bush administration. I have admitted I said it. I said it for a purpose to wake people up. He was treated that way.

How is my standing up for the rights of others make me an anti-semite? Seems to be a flaw in the logic. Because I voiced a term the Bush/Cheney administration probably flaunted in privacy? I didn't sign Colin Powell up to sell the American public on the war in Iraq.

Why didn't Cheney, Wolfowitz, Ashcroft or Rumsfield present the pictures of the porta potties to the UN?

Rice has surprised me, she appears to have more power than that of Powell, she wasn't sent to the dogs. Guess oil money and power buys immunity.

I would like to expand this topic by exploring the balance between Palistinian victimhood and the sufferings of other opressed pepoles accross our world.

I can remember in places like Bosnia and Iraq, the dictators couldnt buldoze the murder victimes into mass graves fast enough. The outcry was certainly muted compared to protest over Palistinian sufferings.

i'm sorry i can't read this whole thread, my computer is freaking out. but i was listening to NPR and they were talking about how israel isn't allowing any reporters into gaza. so the media outlets are using independent palestinian reporters to get their news and verification. where there's a will, there's a way.

 

Lebanon is the one that accepted weapons, rockets and training from bigger sources. I’m sure they know what the game involves.

But I guess everyone does like to pretend they are an independent revolutionary force.

Most of them would be in relative safety of their hotel roof tops.
Personally, aside from the way they may report, it is far too dangerous.
If one western reporter was killed we'd never hear the end of it.

Anyhoo, It makes me laugh when I see BBC reporters positioned about 2 miles away from the conflict, wearing flak jackets.
What do they think it makes them look like?

 

Interesting that the handlers of the Mumbai attacks in Pakistan were watching on TV and passing on information via cell phone to the attackers. This has happened before - Munich Olympics terrorists also were able to watch the police on television.

Having said that I think reporters should be let into Gaza.

There is no such thing as a "balanced media"

this is not because the media is evil or because it's controlled by evil forces (capitalists, zionists , you name it) but it is because of human nature and the nature of reality. Reality is so complex that we can never understand it all. In order to protect humans from constant confusion we developed evolutionary tools to help us narrow reality down to a simplistic graspable thing. We use our opinions , life philosophy, cultural understanding and personal emotions to view the world. There is no way to be "balanced", the best alternative is to assume that " I could be wrong" and to try to see things from as many different perspectives as possible.

BTW- the Chinese media cover of the conflict is not significantly different from the BBC
