Regardless whether individual facts presented in any part of the bible were this or that, right or wrong, reality or delusion, the messages of Christ are the reason for reading the bible. Reading and practicing the moral way of life presented by the messiah, the only reason for the books existence, should be the only concern when reading it. Most everything else should not be of major concern for who knows if it's true, like you say. Even if the scribes mistaken their translations of Jesus' words or wrote it how they wanted, that should not matter because the moral codes are still embedded in the text.
