Wellllllllll I recently moved in with 4 other people, and my grandma bought me a mini refridgerator for my room. Does this make me look selfish? I just think that everyone should contribute to the groceries, and I think keeping mine seperate will be a good idea because I've already been noticing a problem with the food situation. Like some of us will buy all the food while others think they don't have to. So what should I say if my roomies give me attitude about this?
No, dude... that's not selfish. It's just convenient for you, not stingy or anything. Your roomates know that, if they ever need anything, all they have to do is ask you, right... Tell them that it will keep you from getting up in the middle of the night and making lots of noise in the kitchen when you get the midnight munchies, it will be less food for them to forget about and let spoil, also less to clean up.... You could also say that the hum of the fridge helps you sleep.... you've been having trouble since you left your tape of the recording of your mother's heartbeat in her womb back home.... hard times...
I wouldn't worry about it, everyone needs to chip in, haha, I'd be more worried to look like I was too lazy to get up and go to the kitchen. Where are you going to college? If they give you any shit, you justa gotta be firm and tell them if they want any of your food they need to give you money. Don't worry about seeming mean, you gotta lay down the law, or your roomies will walk all over ya.
I have a mini fridge, its awesome, it wont keep icecream which sucks but I can freeze liquids. Be happy you didnt have to live with jim morrison. He ate all of his roomates food and efused to pay the heating bill because he used an electric blanket haha. And no, you arent selfish.
Well are you guys just roomates or all out living together family-style? You should really get the fridge and put your food in. You guys should work out something where everyone pitches in for everything. Like if rent is 500, groceries are 200, and water is another 100, you should have everyone just pay 200 dollars. I really think you guys should have your own food, or like your own food, and general food, if that makes any sense.
No it isn't selfish. And you watch, the only people who will make a fuss about it will be the ones who want to keep freeloading your food.
Two comments : 1. I think it's perfectly fine for you to have a mini-fridge unless it's sucking up a huge amount of electricity. I live with two housemates and one of them is definitely into some strange buying habits. He's opted not to join us with the stock of food and he puts his in our fridge. Sometimes--due to forgetfulness I suppose--he has been known to take stuff that he didn't buy. Or he will eat the more expensive cheese thinking oh heck what's the difference between brie and velveeta. 2. Why does everyone here call you guy or dude? Isn't your name Rachel?
Oh, the fridge would be FINE. I have a friend who shares a one-bedroom apartment with 4 people, and she has a shelf by her bed with all kinds of munchies on it. Apparently, her roomies eat everything. haha
Moonjava: It's fine you want a fridge, who could possibly want to deny you a fridge? What's wrong is that your supporting Bush & Cheney the most SELFISH and people imaginable. Get your priorities straight!
