We slag micro soft but if it were.nt for them ya'd all be paying for a browser. Anyway wat ever browser become popular and takes on the except normal status it will be targeted the way ms intermet explore has been.
If it wasn't for Netscape, we might be paying for a browser. Netscape released the first free browser.
Yep netscape were the first but why did they tried hitting micro soft with a law suit when they intergrated an explorer into windows??? Coz they wanted to charge for it.
I think it had a lot more to do with monopoly and anti-trust type things, rather than wanting to charge. with MS putting IE as the default browser, and making it prohibitive for people to get alternates.....or something like that. I don't really remember. Anyway, use firefox because it benchmarks faster on most areas, and has neato extensions.
Exactly, Microshaft was integrating IE into windows and making shit loads of stuff depend on it, locking people in to using IE. The site effect (other then urting competition) is that it makes the entire system less secure (anything that relys on ie would be vunurable to the ie security issues.)
All that was back in the days of dail up and you can be sure netscape had its eyes on the bigger prize too the same as microsoft did make money from it and its spin off's. If only ms had of intergrated word and power point instead then the bigger player would of got off there bums sooner.
I have to cast my vote for Opera or Chrome as a close second. They are both very easy to use and have a lot of features that are usefull. But as a consolation, I have firefox on everything that runs Linux as it is the easiest to run without fiddling with any settings.
I switch between IE8 and firefox...people think firefox is 100% secure which is completely untrue. I tried Chrome but don't trust google. Too many privacy issues with them.
Yea I love my firefox but it definatley is NOT as secure as most think. This has a lot to do with the addons. Check this out http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html
With no addons -firefox is very secure unpatched vulnerabilities in firefox3 : none (full report here) unpatched vulnerabilities in IE : many ( full report here and here )
its easy to corrupt. Spybots and trojans can climb on with one wrong click and the stacking dumps with IE forget it, youll have windows opening up all over.. then your screwed.
well now that i have Opera. Strange thing is that all my old book marks from mozilla are now on it and i cant delete them? help! I did try the right click but didn't help.
If you want a quick fix, type the keys "Ctrl Shift b" or click your Bookmarks drop down in the menu bar(top left) and go to "Manage Bookmarks". Categories of bookmarks are in the left field and and individual bookmarks are in the right field. Just clikc the bookmark or section you wish to delete and press "Delete", or right click and hit delete. Any more problems just pm me and I will get on chat if it helps.
