So, I am torn on a serious issue. Should I try marijuana and LSD and all that jazz? Here is the list of my inner conflicts. PROS: I have heard that drugs like that can expand your mind and help you think more freely. I don't want to be a slave of the establishment, and I want to think freely. Also, I want to be accepted socially. I have been recently accepted into a "hippie" group at my school and most of them use marijuana. I want to belong to the group. I know that lots of people can use drugs casually and responsibly, and I think I may be able to do this. CONS: I have heard that these drugs have serious effects on your health and brain function. I want to get an education--maybe become a human rights lawyer or do something like that--and I don't want addiction to get in the way. My family has a history of severe alcoholism and drug addiction, and I don't want to become a hopeless junkie. I love to sing, and I'm afraid smoking pot would screw up my voice. Any advice?
I think if these ppl are real hippy type ppl, they would respect your desicion to not smoke and there would not be a problem. Dont bother with drugs if you wanna get a education.Drugs aint all there cracked up to be. believe me.
in all honesty, i think experimentation is a good thing. BUT, the reasons you listed for trying drugs are really bad ones, while the reasons you gave not to are better. maybe you should wait until you're a tad older or something.
If you're trying to make a pro and con list of something, you shouldn't be doing it. Life is for living and drugs are a distraction. It's simple advice, and I'm not anti drug... I use drugs for recreation every now and then. Not a big thing. Whatever you do, do in moderation. Thats beyond the scope of drugs.
if you want to think freely, make the choice to do so. you don't need drugs to expand your mind. they can help, but if your really going to be about thinking free then you would make that decision on your own not worried about what the 'hippie' group thinks
If you're not sure, don't do it. I was 18 before I smoked the first time and 19 before I started smoking regularly. Honestly, I think 15 would've been way too young to start myself, but I can't say for anyone else.
I smoke all the time. I enjoy it, it doesn't interfer with my other activities and I take breaks every few weeks for a week or two without any problem at all. Do what you want. but drugs are fun and I like using them, if your not stopping me I don't care. All I'm saying is that I feel drugs have a unessicarily large stigma, when they are used with just an ounce of respect they are pretty harmless.
First time I smoked weed I was 15. That was a month after getting drunk for the first time. Everything in moderation is the lesson I've learned through my over ten years of smoking pot. It can take over your life, it tends to make you happy to be bored, and it is very bad indeed for motivation. On the other hand, if you have a doobie here and there, there's nothing wrong with that. Just like there's nothing wrong with getting drunk here and there. As for LSD, stay away from psychedelic drugs until you are at least 18. Your mind is still developing at this point, and to play with hallucinogens is not a good idea just yet. But later on - yes, definitely. My life has changed greatly and permanently for the better, several times, because of psychedelic drugs.
I think you should go for it. But the acceptance part is a little faggy. And the "freeing the mind" part is also faggy. But faggiest of all is not doing it.
If you have the will power to stay away from that shit the better off you'll be. Don't do something just because other people are.
