I know this huge group of people at my school who all use stones and crystals for healing purposes. For example, they use amethyst for "personal balance" and they use obsidian for "absorbing negative energy". I see some probability in what they are saying, and I've noticed I tend to have less anxiety when I carry a piece of obsidian in my pocket.

So what do you guys think of crystal/stone healing? Any thoughts?

I have been in love with rocks/stones since I was 2 years old and was caught wandering the border of the house flower beds and putting little rocks in my mouth...in fact stuffing my cheeks full of those pretty, wee pebbles.
That being said - all the way back to biblical times, it was recorded that the sacred shield/garment worn only by the high priest had specific, certain stones of power.
12 of them - an integral part of the breastplate.
Rocks/crystals are God made and possess tremendous power. I have read that certain people are drawn to stone - or they are not. I could go on and on, but I won't. I can assure you that if stone is for you, you will know it - and you should Go For It...
At no point do I not have certain stones of power and/or protection nearby.
Anything written by Scott Cunningham I would heartily recommend as he had quite the grasp of this (as well as many other) subject, imho.
I also totally agree with Holy Ancient Megumi. :)

    I can attest to this!!!

Not only have I done this - but also some of my extended family regularly do this for certain "sensitive" house plants. Plants that are ready to curl up and die at the least provocation seem to do much better when one or three (not 2) rocks and/or crystals are "placed on the top of the soil", as remelk referred to. :)

sorry to burst your bubble but this has been scientifically tested twice by two diffrent organizations that i can cite (by real scientists!) and both have found stones and crystals to be complete and utter bullshit. if you choose to believe the complete and utter bullshit you know is false and it makes you feel better somehow you are experiencing what they called in the experiments "the placebo effect"

the first organization that scientifically tested cystals/stones:
    www.randi.org

the second is an educational program on BBC called "horrizon"
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/2002/homeopathy.shtml

yep sorry no holy ancient power there! just a regular ol' rock.

oh yeah, i've got to believe whatever the Amazing Randi has to say, LOL!

Cunningham has a great beginner's book, indeed, and for more in depth info, i'd recommend the tome "Love is in the Earth" by Melody - it almost contains too much information!

everything has energies that can be used to our advantage/disadvantage - matter IS energy

and ultimately, the universe is mental - if you want to think the powers of stones and crystals are bullshit, then they probably won't work for you :)

I started using crystals many years ago. My wife worked in a glass blowing studio where they also sold crystals. I used to ride my bicycle to work and on my birthday one year, my wife asked me to stop by and look at a couple of crystals because she wanted to buy me one. I looked at the two she showed me and told her that either one would be lovely. She put them back in the display and I rode on to work. Later in the day, a lady and gentleman came into the shop. The lady asked to look at one of the crystals that my wife had shown me. The native American she was with took it out of her hand and gave it back to my wife. He said, "This crystal is not for you. It is for this lady to give to her husband. It symbolizes their relationship and he is supposed to carry it in his pocket." There was more to it, but that is the gist of it. The gentleman turned out to be Grandpa Roberts who used to work at Harbin Hot Springs in California, where there is now a school for the Metaphysical sciences.

I have used it and enjoyed its presence ever since (over 20 years). During that time I have lost it twice. The first time I was riding my bicycle through a very busy intersection with at least two lanes in each direction with mulitple turn lanes. I had just crossed when I heard it fall out of my pocket over all the traffic and wind noise.

The second time I lost it was on a trip during the summer. It slipped out of the pocket of my shorts and I couldn't find it anywhere. I searched the car and called the motel we stayed in to no avail. I figured it was lost forever. On our next wedding anniversary, I went out to clean the car and as soon as I put the front seat down to start vacuuming the back seat, there it was lying on the floor just behind the front seat. I had thoroughly searched that whole area around the seat a few times as I suspected it to be the most likely place for it to have fallen out.

I have many crystals, crystal balls, obsidian and obsidian balls, eggs, flourite, wands, etc. They are definitely energetic structures and resonate with our own energies. There are a few techniques for feeling the power of crystals, but they take an open mind and a little bit of effort. Kind of like learning to eat with a fork, say.

Now, as far as the "placebo effect" is concerned, I think someone needs to study this phenomenon a little more. The "placebo effect" doesn't just occur of its own volition. It is used to describe someone using the power of their mind to influence a desirable outcome. This is something most people do all the time without realizing what it is exactly that they are doing. They eventually decide it is luck, fate, will of God, etc. but it is actually just a natural part of existing on this material plane. We can influence a great deal just using the power of our minds. And, just like most anything else, once we realize this and start doing it on purpose, the more of an effect we can have. Kind of like if we pay attention to how other people write that seem to know what they are doing, use spell check, memorize a few special rules and words, etc., we can write sentences that are easier for others to understand.

    Well said, Plebe!

nice story about your crystal as well - isn't it amazing how these "inanimate" objects can communicate with us, and even find their way home to us? :)

everything that exists has a consciousness of its own - 'tis a beautiful thing, baby! :D

So how does the third person fit into that realism? The third person came from a mythological place of plausibly unborn conditions.

Forgive me Plebe if I offended ya'. I am born but for certain only by a ritual. And there are some people who even weren't born by the lacked ritual.

We are Carbon based, carbon being aware, hence humans are aware.

Silicon DIRECTLY underneath carbon on the table of elements is also aware and alive, SCIENCE now knows this and has done extensive research.

The earths crust is majority silicon, due to it being crystal based. Do some proper research before you say " there just rocks"

    Namaste.
