Who likes him? And if so, what are your favorite stories? Have you ever read The Dark Tower? I'm just curious if there are any other King fans here because I've been reading his work since I was tiny.

I've liked some stuff- earlier stuff. It almost seems like in his old age he is getting more sexually perverse- and I have trouble reading his vivid accounts of that .

Could you name a story in particular that demonstrates that? I've always known him to be vivid in detail of sexual accounts but not in a negative way, unless it suited the storyline.

I am not saying it wouldn't be suited to the storyline- just that it goes to far and i am sensitive..
I believe it was dark tower - wizard and glass ,even- that had a scene(not the word i want) of the witch molesting the girl, in HEAVY gross detail.
    - and Bones- when the man was having nightmares about screwing is dead decomposing wife.nice.

I understand. It's not for everyone. I just finished reading a section of the Dark Tower Book 7 where Susannah had just given birth to a new "thing" that started morphing as she was breastfeeding it. As it mutated, it started to bite into her breasts and--well, since you are sensitive--let's just say he was pretty graphic of the scene in general and what was happening.

The Dark Tower is absolutely amazing and definitely his crowning masterpiece. But expect to devote alot of your life to it, seeing as it is seven books long, and the last 4 especially have been between 7-and 900 pages each. I have been reading the series since I was 9 years old, and I can barely even remember when I first read book one. I just remember that I knew I was entering into something epic.

Pet semetery and the Shining are my fav of his books. The Shining was obviously an amazing movie. Pet semetery was... really freakin' hilarious. I found it hard to be afraid in that movie.

The first novel I can remember reading was The Dark Half by Stephen King, and he's been one of my favorite writers ever since!

My personal favorites are The Stand and the Dark tower series, I also love his short story collections!

Absolutely!! Have you ever read the Bachman Books? I loved Rage and The Long Walk. I still think those are the most overlooked stories he has ever done.

I read once that the only story he regrets of his being published was Rage, The long walk was a good read, wasn't Randal Flagg in that story?

Yes he was. I think King said he was regretful that Rage was released because it ended up becoming a sad reality after Columbine, and he was sorry that he had sort of predicted that horrible tragedy.

I like Steven kings perversions, detail and gore even- but sometimes he goes too far to me... especially when the subject is sexual- and goes on in pages of unnecessary graphic detail.- again tho, I am sensitive. lol

The 1st actual novel I ever read was The Eyes Of the dragon

I don't remember Eyes...I had it, but it's been years since I've read it. I loved Gerald's Game, because it definitely gave an insight to his psychological dementias...that story just had a way of fucking with you, especially if you were able to put yourself in place of the main character.
