Get the Led Out.. Today is the birthday of Jimmy Page..

James Patrick Page (born 9 January 1944) guitarist, composer and record producer.
He began his career as a studio sessio guitarist in London and was subsequently a member of The Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968, after which he co-founded the English rock band Led Zeppelin...

Early Zep was the best-- from '68 through '72. There certainly was some damned good music performed afterward but the quality of the performances dropped off pretty dramatically in the later years.

The Yardbirds pretty much disintegrated in '68 leaving Jimmy Page with some tour date commitments to fulfill and for the sake of his musical career he needed to make good on them so he threw together what was originally to be the New Yardbirds until Keith Moon famously coined the name that stuck- Led Zeppelin.
