They are saying on the news that right now the only way in or out of the Seattle area is by plane or boat, all other routes are closed due to floods.
I'm in the Seattle area right now. It hasn't stopped raining in 36 hours. The rivers are expected to crest at the highest levels since 1917. Crazy.
I used to live there, the Snohomish, the Stilliquamish and such would flood alot. Poor Arlington would get hit bad.
This time it's farther south. Orting is flooded. Puyallup, Cowlitz, Carbon and Nisqually rivers are getting hammered. 15 inches of rain in the mountains on top of 4 feet of new snow. Not a good combo. This is the most rain I've ever seen here.
I-5 is already closed south of Centralia and is expected to be closed near Fife which has never happened.
We had the most flooded river I've ever seen here too. The Church basement was flooded, and that hasn't happened since the 1940s. The weather is just bizarre and dramatic. It's not predictable at all from one day to the next at all really.
There was that one line in the movie 'War Games' where David and his girlfriend Jennifer miss the ferry and need to swim off the island and David can't swim. Jennifer says sarcastically, "What kind of an asshole grows up in Seattle and doesn't even know how to swim?" .
wow, i just looked outside, i didn't realize it had been raining so long. The cover to the hot tob blew off and now has probably over a foot of water sitting in there. I don't know how to swim
Oh, O.K. Good info. I couldn't find a time, but I guess it has. Definitely some aftermath tomorrow though. I think they are underestimating this thing. It's stilling pouring.
no! i really can't swim! and i have a shitty car that can't swim either, and all this standing water is horrifying. they let us out ten minutes early because they wanted us to drive slow today.
i could understand if your out by like Ocean Shores and such but yeah the Hoh rainforest should have got it. Then again the snow melt is what is really messing with it all.
i left seattle for many reasons i got tired of walking to school in poring down rain for a month strait
