I'm so fucking angry right now

Okay, my best friend's murder trial is going on right now and I'm not sure how much of it I can talk about, the situation being as it is, but I do need to rant. Today I got a frantic message from her mom asking me what was on her private MySpace because the defense brought it up in court today and tried to use it against her. This is absolute BULLSHIT because her private MySpace has pretty much nothing on it. Her favorite music, "TV sucks", a list of the raves she had attended, a blog about how raving was NOT all about the drugs...she has a lot about pot on there, but they shouldn't be able to use that against her because she had a prescription card. WTF? I don't understand...what on earth could they be trying to use against her on there? Can these assholes just make shit up and because it's private to the public, they can get away with it?

i feel your pain... they will try any and everything... hang in there.. the truth will come out.. and hopefully justice will be served.

as wrong as it may be justice is nothing more than a game to be won and lost. Each side attempts to use anything to discredit the other. destroying character is a key example.

thats so horrible. im so so so sorry to hear that you have to go through something like this. i couldnt even imagine how i could handle it. your strong.

on the myspace thing, alot of ppl have been harrassed or threatened on myspace, and there has been cases where ppl have actually killed themselves because of myspace. and i think maybe that they are trying to find out if there were any threats to her. to find a suspect.

i hope they catch the person. again, im so sorry thats truly a sad loss.

 

Sorry Amanda but likely it will get far worse. They will try to make a rape victim look like they deserved it.

Lets all hope in the end that the Prosecutor will kick ass and send them in for a good ass fucking in prison. Might be good to find out where they go and offer cartons of smokes to those who have their way with them.

 

I don't know if they are changing the standards for electronic evidence and First Amendment rights. I suspect they are.

I don't see how electronic evidence is legitimate since no one's on oath when writing stuff out on myspace or anything.

It's like me going out on the street and yelling, "I've murdered!" on a limb, and having that used against me in a court of law. Ridiculous.

 

I know! Not to mention who could say that anything on there she actually wrote herself? I mean, I'm sure she did, but damn, there's NOTHING on there. They're also bringing her friends' MySpaces into it. Luckily, I'm smart and have kept my profile public and kept almost every incriminating thing out of it. I'm not going to be attracting legal problems for myself with my MySpace. And god knows if I get murdered ever, I don't want them to be able to use anything on my profile against me.

 

I wish this wasn't such a hard case, too. Because she was drugged, and it's a lot harder to tell if it's self-inflicted or otherwise. But the fact the guy they have ditched her body...if he gets off of murder, he better at least get charged for that. Because she wasn't just a piece of trash to throw away...

 

It's like you can't just shoot this shit anymore. Big Brother'll getcha.

It's okay, I don't expect most would know what to say. Most people don't ever have to deal with a murder trial their whole lives. But yeah, it sucks. i expect it's gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets better. I just hope I can help her mom through it. She's still got a 13 year old son to live for, but this trial is tearing her apart.
