Most of Bush's cabinet member's are either President's or VP's of major corporation's. It read's like the who's who of American corporate leadership. Thing's haven't been so good the last 4 year's. So, you may want to rethink your statement.
What they hell does that have to do with anything? Just because they have to resign while working for Bush doesn't mean that they still don't keep involved with the running's of these companies in some way, shape, or form.... Your analogy of Bush to Kerry $$$$$$ is a little off base, but because you were banned ...you must be an idiot and won't even reply to this post. So, to continue would be pointless.
we are moving closer to the zenith of corruption either way. but Kerry is still preferable to that dumbass we currently are stuck with. on some level it is all illusion anyway; designed to teach those who will learn and devour those who won't or don't. the world is a school for spiritual beings. peace love happiness
James Brown, I suggest you go back and check your facts. Kerry is not the one with the money his wife is. Kerry is affluent, but his personal worth isn't remotely comparable to that of Theresa's.
Wow, Scholar Warrior's picture is graphic & telling. I wish these so-called "hawks" like Bush & Rumsfeld were forced to see the kind of suffering that they've caused by electing to go to war in Iraq without proper intelligence (in more ways than one) or international backing, heck, King George I got international backing for Iraq war I, and now George II is criticising Kerry for wanting to do exactly the same thing. If Bush had to witness the maimed children and the charred bodies that his "smart bombs" produce in person, then maybe he'd get off his high horse & get human and repent.
Kerry does not have a billion dollars, it is his wife that is rich. I remember during the war in Bosnia, the media actually covered the suffering of people caught in the crossfire. I remember how my feelings on how the war was fought became somewhat mixed at times when I saw the effects of the war on television. Perhaps they are afraid showing the devastation that war creates will prevent us from making unbiased decisions. Cold-blooded jerks.
You're a fascist. That sucks man :$ Personally, I want to be governed by myself, with the State there for backup. But no, never want to be governed by corporations: money hungry power freaks are not a good form of government. I know thats how it is, and it sucks the big one. We need a change.
Man, there is a lot of confussion out there.... So far it seems that people are being expressing themselves sarcastically when they say they would rather be governed by corporations than the government. It's well known that in these times, they are the same thing. It's like the starbuck's episode of South Park... not to say that they are the authority on this issue, but still. The corporations are favored under the law as it is, and why is that? God only knows.... it seems that you have to have the money of a major corporation in order to get the advertising necessary to actually compete in a true political campaign these days. Think about it. All of our politicians come from high media backgrounds, or they have a lot of money from family or business. How else do they get pushed to the top? They might get the necessary exposure from individual contributors, who will then want the candidate to be their puppet.... like how a lot of people see Kerry right now, but what's to say that Kerry isn't actually thinking somewhat for himself? A lot of people out there say he's flip-flopping, but I disagree. What's to say he can't change his views based on the fact that the world we live in is changing? It seems Bush is the one who has no idea what to do. He's like a wild hamster trying to run through traffic, but his people are holding him back. I really think they should just let Bush go ahead and speak his mind these next few weeks... It'd be fucked up, but at least people would realize what a conservative, blue-blood, moron he really is. He keeps changing as much as Kerry, and the only things he holds on to are the things that really should be constantly examined and re-examined in order to fix the damn economy. Bush wants tax cuts for the rich.... major ones. The corporations would love that, but is that a good thing? Hell no.... not now, not ever. Enron happened under Bush, and we're lucky that was exposed, although it was nearly covered up. What's to say they were the only ones and Ted Turner and the other media super-bosses aren't going to quell their media attention? What's to say they won't take some info like that and try to make a buck off of the extensive networking that these news corporations have? They are a monopoly of their own kind, and those corporations are the types things that our forefathers tried to guard us against. They wanted equality and opportunity... albeit they went about it in a somewhat fucked up way as far as slaves and such were concerned. Corporations, if such a thing were around in their world, would have been written in as an abominable collaboration of wealthy individuals, and bills would have been passed to prevent them.... I truly believe. Where the HELL is our blessed Democracy??? It's underneath about 150 years of bullshit coming out of the ass of the Industrial Revolution. Democracy doesn't exist now.... Now we have something far worse than a king, far worse than a dictator, and far worse than anything we've seen before. Now we have a world where kings have traded in their crowns for Bentleys and Ferraris and CEO titles. We have a world where peasants live in suburban neighborhoods, and their culture is spoon-fed to them by a box of glass and wires. We have a god made of green paper and numbers, and we have priests who laugh at our true religions, and tell us that the void will be filled if we just give more to the corporate world. Today we have children dying as they mine the materials needed so we can talk to our friend who probably doesn't really care what we're up to today. We have millions of people living in conditions our homeless would refuse, and those people are considered middle class. We have corporations bringing money to the rich, and withholding it from the poor. We have a society that will run itself in the ground. We have a truck with a lot of horsepower, and no steering wheel... and it's running full speed down a mountain road... We have a society that has been effectively numbed with the internet, television, and the need to consume. We have a society of sinners, who don't accept their sin, and don't care about their fellow man. Sins not only in the eyes of one faith, but all paths (other than hedonistic or "Satanic"-if such a thing ever really existed- paths). We are a society of godless, mindless, cultureless, artless individuals who are afraid to live on the same level as everyone else. Too bad these words are only wasted because nothing will happen. We have too much exposure to these types of writings on websites, so fuck it... Why am I even wasting my energy to type this anymore? Because I believe in something I guess.... and that's something I think we all need to do, but who am I to say my way is right? I won't tell you right and wrong, and I can't tell you. I don't want to and I simply won't, but I will say that the time has come, in my eyes, for us to do something about this shit. When nobody wants either of the candidates working to run our country in office, that should tell us something.... it really should. Too bad if we try to rise up and oppose the system, we just get shot down or arrested for treason. Oh well.... the battle is won, and we lost man.... we lost.... and we never got to fight...... Maybe that's why the South secceded from the Union so long ago..... who knows for sure? At least they gave a damn about the established system, but look what happened to them.... quelled like all the rest..... The system is flawless, and the system is wrong. We defeated ourselves before we were even born.... FUCK THIS SHIT!
Our system needs us to consume so the corporations can keep making money. and while they keep making money they keep the power. we have a system that worships money and possesions. well, its all about to change, no matter how many war we try and have to keep it. in 5 years time we won't be able to afford to ship things around the world to our consumers. Globalization was where we were heading if the worlds resources were infinite. But they are not. Doesn't matter what the economists tell you. Globablization will be over just as quickly as it began. The only trouble is, we will have 6 billion people to feed after all this, when we only had half that in 1950. People are going to be unemployed, people are going to be hungry. People are going to be angry. And all because the corporations think about next quarters profits. not feeding and housing and employing the next generation. When it all goes to shit, the super rich will shut down and go into economic hibernation, maybe employing enough people to grow them food. Bush has an off grid environmentalists dream mansion. Solar and wind powered, and enough land to employ people to grow food on for his family. He knows whats happening. He knows the end is nigh. The corporations are raping us and will leave us high and dry as soon as itt suits them to do so. The government is meant to look after the interests of its citizens long term and short term, and balance that. Unfortunately, governments cannot do anything that will make them unelectable for their next term. So we will die for the rich. But then thats human nature, and we've done that throughout history. Why should we be supprised. We've all voted for it, thanks to democracy. The only people we can blame are ourselves.
Amen, lostblackdog. all that 'culture' is designed to stop us thinking, but I think we can fight back on the same battleground, like John Sinclair said (about total cultural revolution). Goldfishbowl42, that's some scary shit. You know whereabouts this mansion is? Maybe we can pay a visit with crowbars and molotovs... if he's got nowhere to run to he might reevaluate his priorities, and at least we can take him down with us.
Actually I suspect that if Bush had to see the brutal fallout of his great "liberation" he'd simply have Rove spin it into headlines reading "See, as we promised, No Child Left Behind!"
If youre speaking of the 11 acre family compound where ma and pa Bush reside, its in Kennebunkport Maine, not Texas. Good luck getting through the SS protection they enjoy.
Ah..... and here we are again... "the end is nigh" and we're all gonna die arguement. While I believe it's entirely possible, I'm not so sure it's going to happen in the next four years... although I'm not so sure it won't necessarily happen in that time span either. What I am sure of, is that there are certainly a lot of Americans out there right now who are realizing that the "System is Down," to quote Homestarrunner. It's already defeated itself in so many ways. For example, not renewing the ban on assault weapons for private citizens has not only allowed assault rifles to be available to the average Joe B. Redneck, but it's also allowed those same weapons to be put into the hands of people who are armed with much more powerful weapons of mass construction, their minds. It's a mistake our government has made; trying to create a free society where the Republican values are upheld along with the Democratic. Let me encourage all of you to read the Republic by, Plato. It will astound many of you to realize how similar the sarcasm of Socrates and the reality of our own government have really become. It's VERY similiar to the first thread in this post... "God Bless Globalization." No one is sure whether or not the beginner of this post was serious or not, and we can only hope not. The same is true with the Republic. It's a hypothetical, censored, and controled society filled with social biases and unequal rights and representations. It's the Bible of the true, Greek (in the Fraternity and Sorority sense), Republican socialite. I took a philosophy of ethics course, well i took four last year, and in those courses there was always someone from a fraternity or sorority who wanted to read Plato's the Republic, but none of them could offer much honest support for the views Socrates is suggesting therein. It was sad, but it made me happy to see that these people were realizing that the whole work was meant to be a satire. Socrates, the lowly and poor philosopher, had transcended his real position to that of a Philosopher King, who rules this hypothetical city he is creating. The irony of the situation is that he is telling this whole theory to a man of great power and prestige in Greece, who would not let him leave the festival he and Plato were attending as teacher and student. I truly doubt that Socrates honestly believed in what he was saying, otherwise he would have worked to make it so, but rather, I think he was saying something is messed up with the system as it is, and if one person stays on top of the other, how can this ever be a just society? This is why it's funny to hear Republicans talk about justice, and it's also funny to hear people talk about Liberals as ignorant fools. A true Liberal is someone who will also recognize the value of conservatism in some aspects of society and government. Not conservatism as Bush would represent it, that's just moronic fundamentalism, but conservatism as far as things like the death penalty and our right to look out for our own interests as well as those around us. Not to be confused with to take everything around us and keep it all to ourselves! That's the Neo-conservative/Republican view coming back.... These people out there who realize the social turmoil brewing right now, can also realize that this false election is perhaps what we as a country need in order to get the right people motivated for a change. Hopefully a change we'll see in our lifetime! Fidel, and Che... I know a lot of us think that Fidel was the bad guy, but look at Cuba before Fidel... under the rule of Batista and the mob. Was that better than it is now? I don't think so... Yes, Fidel sent a lot of people running win he took over, but why wouldn't he? Who could he trust in this new system where he could be EASILY assasinated at any momemt? No one, so he sent them on their own and decided to look at the greater issues at hand. Fidel unified Cuba way more than he broke Cuba up, and there among the people today you can see the unique multi-cultural union of Africans, Whites, Natives, and all sorts of people in between. Sure... Fidel had to go through some bad times and ill means to get what he needed, but he had very few options, at least if he wanted Cuba to remain the way he intended it to. It only goes to further support the current government's ties with the mob and organized crime. That's been out for a while now, and although a lot of people think it's crazy, ask yourself... is it really that far-fetched? Power meets Money.... corruption has endless potential there... The CIA tried to have Castro killed, and at the same time mob bosses all over the world were ready to have him "Sleepin' wit da fishies" too... It makes sense. Not to say this is the only reason to examine Cuba, or even a right reason to turn to them right now, but it's this type of revolution that we as a people governed by the people, need to come to terms with and get ready for. I'm not saying it has to be violent, but I'm sure that in over 25,000 years of human tendencies to accept politcal change only alongside violence, there probably will be some somewhere. I really hope that there isn't, but let's face it.... it's bound to happen. Maybe Bush and Kerry will get drunk in a bar and beat each other up and that'll be it... who knows. Anyways, there will be a time when the corrupt members of our society have to answer to their masters, the People of the United States of America, the common man.... the socialist against the socialite (social-elite). First it will be small, I'm sure.... something similar to Boondock Saints, but it will have a deep and resounding impact. It will be a few people who aren't afraid, people like Nat Turner, Ben Franklin, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Tu Pac Shakur, Huey Newton and Bobby Smith, Sojourner Truth, Harriett Tubman, Geronimo (Goyathlay), LaFeyette, Chief Joseph, Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglas, and Dr. Martin Luther King. These people will give more than just their time and effort, but most certainly their entire life's purpose to the goal of our own freedom from our own system. All of these people have given of their entirity, in order to pave a path for us as a progressive society to move. Black, White, Native American, Woman, Man..... it doesn't matter. All of these people were fighting for something BEYOND their independent struggle at the time, rather these people were fighting for Freedom! The sad reality is that not only is our own government holding us back, but it's holding the world back too. It's not a matter of simply fighting for our own freedom now boys and girls, it's a matter of fighting for the world's freedom from us as well! Look at the situation in the Middle East, not only in Iraq, but the whole damn region. Wouldn't things be better if we had never built the nukes in the first place? Wouldn't things be better if corporate America had never been allowed the capacity to grow to the extent that it has? Wouldn't things be better if people could actually work hard for a living and be paid honest and fair wages, and for those who cannot work, that they be taken care of as well? Welcome to Socialsm. Not the Communism of the Russians, Cubans or China, but Socialism that can be combined with Democracy to make a system that allows us to truly govern ourselves, in accordance to the rest of the world, on a fair and equal scale. Now the thing you have to ask is, are you ready to give up this way of life and trade it in for something different. Not better or worse, but something different? Things will be hard in the beginning, but if we try.... and I mean honestly try, I believe it can work, because there is no one man governing everything, rather there is everyone governing everything. Every voice is heard, and every point observed, and the outcome is a pure and fair system of equality. Who's still with me on this one? Yeah, it seems hard, but look at it this way.... Where are you going to go to create a society that can uphold justice and protect the people's rights? Where are you going to go.... NOWHERE. The world has been conquered, friends. There is nowhere left to go, no place we can turn to, no social or political organization we can turn to see equality and justice working together . We are at the ends of the earth, and soon to be running over. Where do we go now, the moon? Yeah.... right. We have screwed ourselves, and these next four years aren't going to help at all. It's a waste of four perfectly good years unless we do something about it, and I'm sick of wasting my life living with this same old bullshit year in and year out and on my own turf. I'm going to protest and scream and shout until this system works itself out or someone shoots me down like the rest. I've got enough faith that the words I write and the minds I influence will take a part of me with them and I'll live on in the spirit of the revolution that is bound to come. Like I said though, I hope it doesn't come to violence, because I don't think I could take part in that. I would, however, bet money that the governement would. Look at Eminem's new song, Mosh, and let me know what you think... here's a link to the site, and I hope everyone who suffered this far into my rant has a great day! http://www.rooftopreport.com/rooftopreport/archives/001304eminem_vote_video.php Peace, -Mac
Have you seen the film "Wag the Dog"? The War on terror is the War on Armenia that never existed, but used to organise and motivate the masses just a side point. lostblackdog, it is not for anyone to judge someone else but in my view you have a very reasoned and balanced view on the world. "Anyways, there will be a time when the corrupt members of our society have to answer to their masters, the People of the United States of America, the common man.... the socialist against the socialite (social-elite)." That time is coming, when this consumerist society can no longer afford to consume, it will dawn on people that they have been used for the last century to make some people very rich indeed at the expense of their promised future. As that future crumbles in front of them, as the wall marts break down and cars start to lie derelict and people go hungry, nowhere will be safe for these Rich elites even behind the guarded walls of their mansions. And it will happen in the next 4 years. Don't take my word for it, its begining now. Look into the oil prices and see how the future is panning out. things are about to get a lot worse well before they start to get better again. I'm no conspiracy theorist. Infact I tend to not believe in them at all. Mostly people aren't competent enough to organise them and keep them under raps. This is happening not because someone planned it, but because no-one saw it coming. Maybe a few did, The Club of Rome, M King Hubbert, but they were ridiculed. M King Hubberts reputation was at an all time low until his prediction came true. The US had more Oil wealth than Saudi Arabia orginally. Where is it now?
