I do like to listen to 13th Floor Elevators now and then, but much prefer some of Roky's solo stuff. Two Headed Dog is mesmerizing.

 

I LOVE them.
"Kingdom of Heaven" is my favorite song of theirs. It's really, really great.

13th floor elevators is the best psychedlic band on earth. i don't know the weird messed up trippy sound in the background lol. i recommend everyone finding the song "night of the vampire". its not by the 13th floor elevators, but its by a band called roky erikson and the aliens. erikson was the main guy in the elevators and he created this band after he got out of rehab.

i have "the psychedelic sounds of the 13th floor elevators " and "easter everywhere ".Classic psych records!

 

It's Tommy Hall making noises into a prop jug, then run through an echoplex to get that looped drone. We use the same thing in our band.

 

I've heard ALL of Roky's songs, with the various bands, solo.....whatever!!!! He's one of my psychedelic heroes!!!

A mate told me he read that the ZZ Top want to do a record with Roky.......anyone here know more?!

 

Yes, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top's guitarist) and Roky Erickson will be collaborating on a new Roky album (watch this interview) and he also recently recorded a song with Mogwai.

I have their first two albums, I'm not sure which I prefer... sometimes the debut, sometimes Easter Everywhere.

 

Oh, I hate when some great song is abused by some corporations Especially if song doesn´t belongs to mainstream music, but alternative styles.

Anyway, I love "13th", they´re such a fantastic band! In "You´re Gonna Miss Me" I adore every sound which is getting out from Roky´s throat

 

The 13th Floor Elevators are one of my favorite psychedelic groups of all-time. If I recall correctly, every performance (including the recordings) was under the influence of LSD. The electric jug is a real hip sound, really psychy.

Check out Easter Everywhere, which is my favorite album by them. It includes a real groovy take on "It's All Over Now Baby Blue." Go go go!
