What does that really mean? My boyfriend told me that he wants to take a break. I thought we were doing well and then he just surprised with me that. I was so proud of him last week when my "best friend" hit on him and he blew her off. I don't think I did anything... I don't know. I really love him and I don't want to lose him. We've been together for 8 months and everything has seemed perfect until this point. He told me that he loves me and I'm a great girlfriend, he just feels like this would be best for us right now. I don't know what that means! I feel like crap about this, but I also feel even worse because I'm reacting the way that I am. I don't know what to do.
Sometimes when everything is going great, it scares the guys a little because it means commitment. Something that many shy away from. I know its hard but if you don't give him this 'break', it might push him away furthur. meanwhile, do lots of interesting things and keep in contact. He'll know how much he misses you soon. breaks can be good you are young right? I have been in a relationship for 2 years and we are really in love. We are taking a month break to get out and date (not sleep around) to experience other people and never wonder what we missed out on. If he wants a break and you don't, tell him. If he feels that he needs a break, give it to him. You don't want to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't want it back. If he comes back to you than everything should work out. If not, then you wouldn't want to be with him anyway.. right? keep your head up! (just so you know we are going to reconciliate soon and it is mutual.)
i've been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and i know what it means to want a break, I've never really dated anyone before and now i'm in this serious relationship, i don't regret our relationship but sometimes i wish that like him i had been able to date first. we havn't taken a 'break' though
