If you think that's funny... When I have Jehovhah Witnesses at the door, I tell them I'm Jewish. Never see'em again. x
He scares me a bit, but comes out with many well-versed articulations. However, there is the missing point in reference to that ONE mideast country model for trust in case of war (I'm less articulate what war for whom), and then he tends to flip out a bit. He sure could of called it Lebanon for fact, or Israel for theory. Xexon, do you believe that we should return to a nineteenth century state of nationalism?
I am soooo sorry I scared you! I was responding to a really mean guy who said that if I don't accept his "l-rd", I would end up in "damnation forever". I was a little emotional, but still feel other Jews could use this as a source of pride and information. Again, sorry about scaring you! Not sure what you mean about war in the region? I personally hope there will be no more! Enough is enough. May G-d Almighty bless you in all that you do.
Nationalism is fine if you're supporting your sports team or whatever. Unrestrained nationalism is a dangerous fascination. It leads to war with those you've given an inferiority complex to by proclaiming your own superiority. Israel would be fine if it dropped "Jewish this" or Arabic that". Zionism will never allow that. It needs that division to offer the Jews protection from. That's what it does with the right hand. In public view. The "Champion" of the Jews. Standing on the hill with a Torah in one hand and a sword in the other. The left hand is busy gouging eyeballs while the referee's back is turned. Sets up the next gameplay. Until you learn to think a few steps ahead like they do, you will be forever responding to their antics in the world. They are masters of the hit and run. You have to learn their game to be able to play it. Otherwise, you're already set up to lose. x
It's just, Xexon, that you are for rather nationalism than globalization, from what I've been reading about in your expressions against cooperative faith and let's say industrial nature. We seem to be living a distortion about environmentalism in the new millenium: that History has brought the roots of civilization to a conclusive deceipt of where all our problems extrinsic to the ordinary physiological condition of personal tolerance and humanity are. Science deceives us anyway, but do we ignore what it says about ice caps melting or the dehumanizing by genetic research?
Whether it's religion, science, politics, culture or . . . well, anything . . . if you do not understand it according to its own terms, then you argue against your own imagination. If you believe you need to convince others to join your argument, then you may be at risk for some serious mental health problems. I see no reason to believe this passionate young Chasid has, or should have, any real knowledge of Christianity (In my experience, many Christians don't seem to have any real knowledge either, but, of course, that's another argument). I understand the frustration of unenlightened missionary harassment, but his response appears to be as misinformed, inappropriate and incompetent as those of his "opponents." Just a thought. Peace and Love
What about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jxi4VFGD-w Can you intellectually refute these points? Please, this section of the forum is for Jews. I don't troll in your little section. May G-d Almighty bless you to truly fear the one true G-d of Israel and respect His nation, Israel - the Jews. PS - Chassidim have been debating priests for over 300 years now and we have never lost. The only time it turns ugly is when the priest has the Jew killed for embarrassing him in public.
It seems I did not make my point clearly enough. What do YOU think we're discussing? There is room for more kindness in your assumptions Thank You. The real problem is a deeply rooted belief that this is some kind of competition. I am arguing for everyone to dig more deeply into the wisest teaching of their own religious traditions, especially those who suffer under the delusion that their piety may be measured by their willful ignorance, intolerance, baseless fear and hatred for other faiths and other levels of observance. That is not the way of ANY faith. Shabbat Shalom
"I understand the frustration of unenlightened missionary harassment, but his response appears to be as misinformed, inappropriate and incompetent as those of his "opponents." You don't think there is a little room for "more kindness" in this statement? May G-d Almighty bless you in all that you do.
The Title is "Fodder in case a J-s-s freak tries converting you . . ." The YouTube video you refer to is titled "Jews for J-s-s! May that name be erased!!!" You must understand the gross misinterpretation these titles invite. I am all for World Peace. Today, like every day, would be a perfect time for it. But the simple, sorrowful fact is that there is pointless, destructive hostility, especially between the faiths, that will delay world peace indefinitely. That delay is an immediate cause of suffering for every person of any faith, and even the people between faiths. I believe it is completely unnecessary for any Jew to become a Christian. Because . . . as I understand the story . . . J.C. was a good man who sought greater observance among his fellow Jews, and who tried to teach the essential lessons of the Torah to non-Jews. These may be respectable and appreciable efforts, but it never made sense to me why anyone should exclusively deify and then worship this man. No missionary has ever been able to explain to me how this is supposed to bring anyone closer to God. To borrow a phrase - "A fool stares at the hand that points to the stars." Truth is the only remedy for ignorance. Only light dispels darkness. Baruch Hashem. Of course, all apologies for my own misinformed, inappropriate and incompetent arguments. May there always be more kindness to make room for. Your words speak the greatest kindness. Thank You.
I see your point about the title. And it is well taken. It was simply a response to all the Jews for J stuff on youtube. Like you said, I don't see why a Jew should have to abandon the religion he was born into. My intent was simply to provide a strong worded response to all the other videos so that someone researching this for the first time would at least have a fair handed vantage point representing both sides. Much love and blessing your way...
I have found that asking them to read the first messianic prophecy on the first page of the book of Mathew, and then going to the actual prophecy and pointing out to them that it refers to a virgin birth that occured 700BCE usually shuts them up. Yep the first page of the first book of the Christian Bible has a lie in it. For fun sometimes I will go through the prophecies and show them to be lies. Then I will show them the last half of Ezek 18 where God itself says it immediately forgives those who repent of evil and resolve to keep His ways. It also says that the individual is responsible for their actions and no one can stand if for them. As for an actual messiah, oh please stop it, just stop it.
