Fried chicken is still chicken I guess. Try the Burgur King Tendergrill sandwich once in a while , it's grilled chicken so it's healthier.
And by matted, what do you mean? Like, it's shrinking and getting tight?

hmm sounds good i'll try it next time
but not exactly by matted just picture like someone with a curly afro, and they put a tight swimcap on, then take it off how its kinda like smooshed but mines not as bad but some.

Ah, well it doesn't sound like a bad thing but to make sure you might want to separate them by sections to prevent a beaver tail. Although at your hair length I doubt you'd get a beaver tail. Better to be safe than sorry.
And the baking soda caused this?

    Google 'beavertail dreads'.
It usually happens when people don't rip hairs apart or something.
But I think your good for now. You have a latino hairtype, right?

Well, i couldn't tell if you were latino or mixed.
If your latino, you got latino hair. Lol.
Unless your a latino of african decent...then, um, I guess that would be considered mixed hair....
    Ok, I'll change the question:
Before you started dreading, did you naturally have an afro or did you have wavy curls?

ok this is gonna be sorta difficult to explain how my hair came about
    ok im mixed
black/white (a tiny bit latino but not much)
my hair was original a little bit curly but not a whole lot then in this past august i believe i used this S-curl formula (which is basically a chemical that makes your hair really curly
so i use to have real neat curls but now i have some nap trap curls lol
so lol does explain alot xD

    Lol. You got a perm.
Yeah, that explains alot. I'm a mixed kid too so now I have an idea of what your hair is like. That being said, I guess all you would need is a little moisture in the hair? Is your hair feeling dried out? Becuase if the mats are being cuased by dryness you should just moisturize it a bit and see if that helps.

    lol yea i guess xD
oh thats cool so we may have the same type of hair lol
and by moisture in the hair what u mean like water xD or is there a type of moisturizer u can get for your hair
yea because most black ppl use to ask me why my hair wasnt greasy like theres but i never new why, so i guess my hair is pretty dry xD

By moisture, I would mix 1 spoonful conditioner with water in a cup and soak your hair with it.
I'm off to play in the snow. I probably won't log in tonight but tell me if everything works out.

Well, technically your not suppose to condition your hair, but in your case your hair seemed to be getting dried. Maybe baking soda isn't for you. I'm assuming your going to buy Dr. Bronnors or Knotty Boy shampoo soon and those contian oils that should moisturize your hair. In the meantime i guess you could continue using baking soda and use a lil bit of that conditioner mix after the hair dries.
What were you using as shampoo before the baking soda?

Yeah, I'm definately gonna buy some Dr. Bronners by this weekend. Also, to tell you the truth I wasn't using any shampoo since mid november till just yesterday, but weirdly enough I, never had excessive dandruff or my hair never reaked a weird smell, I did this because I thought to get dreads you had not wash your hair, this was before I really checked out these forums.

If it didn't flake, smell, or get greasy then it's not bad. You have to understand that some people on this site had straight thin hair so they HAVE to wash their hair to get rid of gunk and make it un-silky. But if you look at Bob Marley, who was mixed, he claimed to only only wash his hair with water. No shampoo. If it worked for Bob it could work for you.

    Calcium pills
    Fish oil pills
    Multivitamin pills
    and maybe some lean meat

Lol, it seems like ima diabetic xD
anything else that I can buy thats good for my hair.
