I have one tiny tat of a moon on my ankle. I've been wanting to get another for a while now, but I've been having trouble finding one I liked. Finally I found something I really liked - a Capricorn symbol on my inner wrist. My son's a Cap and it would symbolize him.

My husband says it's overdone. He says he knows a bunch of people that have done the same thing for their kids. Is this idea overdone or cheesy?

I like it but my opinion and your husband's opinion is shit. Your opinion is golden, so if you like it get it. Who cares if a bunch of others allegedly did it already, it's not about them it's about you :]

I think its a cliche, but, like moon doggie says, my opinion ain't shit.

You can get a custom drawn tattoo that incorporates the same thematic elements without being the same as everyone else's.

I agree with getting an original. I have a few and none of them were picked from a book or from pictures. I have used art to get ideas, but I dont even want them to put mine in a book when its completed. I would hate to see the same ink on someone else. So get an idea and ask them to make it custom or maybe get the general idea on your own from art you can find on the net or in books.

I'm all for custom ink but I'm not for hampering artists from furthering their careers by not featuring your ink in their book.

What difference does it make if it's 'overdone' or not? If you like it and you want it, get it done. The meaning isn't overdone.

I think it's a sweet idea, especially since the tattoo will represent to you something that you hold very dear. Go for it. If you don't want it to be overdone, you could do something different with it....like, I have heard of this special ink that glows under blacklight, you could do something like that.

generally i think the whole sign tattoo thing is overdone but the theory behind why you want to get it done is different so i say go for it

it is overdone, but something that's overdone isn't necessarily a bad idea.. hell, me and my boyfriend are getting the sag symbol since we were born a day apart (a few years too but reguardless) and we just dig it. and if you dig it, you should just do it :) who gives a shit?
