What`s wrong with my first plants?

Hi
This is my very first time growing weed.
I harvested my crop just couple weeks ago and it looks as good as
other people's crop on the internet (has a lot of resin) like the picture.
It has been dry and cured for about 10 days so I just tested
a small bud to see if it is potent enough to give me buzz.
But I don't feel anything at all.
I am wondering if my crop is a total waste or it needs more time for
curing.
Please let me know ASAP.

If its got lots of resin or crystals on it then I'l say 2 things at play here 1 genetics 2 how you dried it. If the stems snap when you bend them then its dry if not needs more time. I hang mine up in the dark for at least 2 weeks before i test it and can take upto another 2 weeks drying before I'm happy with it.

I harvested northern light which should be strong.
I guess my problem is with dry and cure process so I will
give more time to dry them as you say.

oh yeah,, you cant really take of the fruit and smoke it, it needs dried and cured..
Never will I have that much patients Sorry.. Ill either grow enough to oven a quick 1/4 or have enough commercial to stand by.. Sometimes have enough my own to hold me over..
H20 must evaporate slowly but steady.. processing small amounts is hard to do sometimes..

 

So I've been told never smoke wet weed as it drives ya crazy, dont know how true that is but I've always found wet weed to be slightly addictive and a strange kinda high.

 

Fast acting high,, Clean super and clear.. To smoke wet you got to have a nice big bowl and high flame.. Your sort of vaping it cause the thc is going to smoke first..

I rather let the plants wither from lack of water in the end.. Helps..

hey m4n14c420 you seem to be kind of a big deal around these boards and not trying to steal this thread or anything, but what method do you use to know when to harvest?? I was originally going to harvest my 5 pineapple punch girls when 8 weeks that were rec for flower were up, but i noticed that they're just finally having their pestils turn the orange color i have seen in High Times and on the site where i ordered them. what method do you use to know when it's time??? I was thinking of going by pestils but i've been reading about how if you harvest at different points in maturation of the trichomes you'll receive a different high, for instance really amber trichs means a really heavy body stone while i think milky white means more of a cerebral high. just trying to get advice to get the most out of my girls. thanks in advance <3

I wait about 8weeks to harvest. I harvested after noticing about 50% hair turn brown but I did not look at the trichomes with microscope?
Did I really harvest too early? Is that Why I don't feel anything?
It's really hard to belive that I do not feel anything even though the weed
looks high quality stuff....
I feel like my 4 months of hard effort is gone without anything ....
Please advice me so I don't make same mistakes for next time.
I will take your advice very seriously in order to harvest the good quality
weed. I am in the nation which do not have a lot of weed lovers so it is very very hard to find weed. Growing is the only way to enjoy the greatest thing in the world . Please help me guys !!!!

Oops you wont be making that mistake again will you now. Sounds like you were 2 weeks early at 50 per cent its just getting interesting by that stage. 75 per cent is more like rite time.

 

My parents once grew a whole crop under these plastic window panels from the hardware store in a home made grow house.(probably something cheap since we thought we were saving money not buying the expensive GREENHOUSE type panels) We had grown for several years with extremely good results just out in the open. OK so this one year we made our own greenhouse and we harvested our crop and NO HIGH!!

The pot looked GREAT you just go no effects from smoking it!! We later found out that there was something in the panels that we built the greenhouse with, that changed the light coming in from the sun somehow and that made our pot from that harvest totally BUNK! It looked great, looked totally normal in every way but you did not get high off it! the next year we removed the panels and no problem great buds again!!

I HOPE this is not your problem but it has happened to me.

^^^ thats quite interesting that i know some glass filters the blue from sun light coz i see it with my house plants some go all leggy and long but never heard that about plastic sheeting could be one more thing to watch out for if ya growing out side.

 

im guessing its a combination of 2 possibilities:

1) you harvested a bit early. probably not too early, but maybe a bit. this means that you will get a slightly smaller yield and possibly potency then a crop left to grow an dditional week or 2.

2) wet weed is usually difficult to smoke. letting it properly dry and cure will make it much better to smoke, both taste and potency-wise.

Your crop is not wasted, but possibly a lesson in how to adjust for next time round. let the buds airdry a bit then put them into glass jars for at least a few weeks before you begin smoking it.

ADDITIONALLY, make sure that you dont keep the WET buds in glass jars without regular air circulation, as too much trapped moisure will allow mold to form, ruining your buds.

 

This is a good example of why new growers get discouraged.

New gardeners tend to want to harvest when the first 'hairs' tend to begin turning blond, brown, or red; (depending on the strain).

Next time try to wait till all hairs have turned, then wait a couple of days, new groups of hairs should appear between the older sites, I call this bulking up. I usually wait till this has occurred 3 or 4 times, the buds are about 3 times as big as the originals and solid to the touch, not squash, just touch of the fingers. That's how I get those buds in my gallery, some times again depending on the stain they might take 10-14 weeks before they reach what I consider mature buds...........Patience is rewarding!>D

 

Another reason for failure is over loving.
Why do ppl think 8 weeks bloom for skunks 10 for whites and 16 for pure sats is set in stone? Coz it aint thats only a guide there's alot of factors how good a grower you are what and when you feed light levels and genetics, even seeds from the same plant there's will be differences in when each plant will be ready.
Thanks to the above that how the wild mj has gone from 5 percent thc to the 30 percent we all love and enjoy.
