So here the dilema: For over a week now, I hqave been throwing up like 1 hour after I take the Vicodin, OR the Percocet as well. I have a tolerance built up (as I said), and usually have had NO Problems with upset stomach BEFORE latley? Im talkin NOT BEING able to hold down almost anything, like even toats & Water, or a little coca-cola? The throwin UP never was an issue with me on Hydro, Oxy, ect.... ?????? For years before when I tookmem, I DID NOT Get sick like this????

ANY HELP HERE,PLEASE? I need to figure out wahts goin on....Thanks for ALL INFO.

well your body changes as you get older. I used to be able to eat anything, drink anything and take any pill I wanted to, that was 3 years ago, now I get heartburn easier than I used to and percocets make me puke now to. Also when you take tylenol on a regular basis over a period of time it eats away at your stomach lining, which makes your stomach more sensitive to things.

well.. you're use to taking something that has no APAP.. and now you ARE taking stuff that contains APAP... thats probably making your stomach upset.. especially depending on how many vics or percs you are popping

I agree. Ulcers may be a possibility.

You said you're taking Vicoprofen, which has Ibuprofen. That's a well known stomach irritant that also can cause gastric bleeding. If you've been taking that much of it, and taking it on an empty stomach, I think that's where your problem is. If I were in your shoes, don't take any more pills for awhile, smoke some high quality herb for the nausea and vomiting and see if it clears up in a couple more days. If not, a doctor visit may be called for. If you don't want to mention narcotics, just say you were taking X amount of Ibuprofen when the problem came on. Hopefully, the problem clears up on its own. Maybe some antacids will help? I find it ironic how the really dangerous stuff is available over the counter, but doctors are so concerned with people getting opiates.

Nsaids such as ibuprofen are wicked on the stomach, I cannot even take them anymore because of the stomach pain.Ulcers/gastric issues are what you trade for a safer liver, kinda funny.

As many have said, Ibuprofen can upset your stomach just as much, especially in higher doses.

Also, you may not be as tolerant as you think, and the opiates might be making you nauseous as well.

I read somewhere that 87.3% of statistics are completely made up on the spot.

I wish we got to vote on drug laws, instead of congress voting on them. How fast would it get legalized? lol

Ibuprofen, apap, all that shit is bad for your stomach, and your liver. Most likely is the cause of your issues.

Do you drink alcohol at all? Even socially? Combining the two, even at small doses, can cause serious stomach discomfort. Even if not combined...both are hard on the liver.

Also, isn't 87.3% a statistic as well? Haha.

    Haha, funny quotes.

Wait, why are we talking about statistics? Who brought up a statistic and how does that tie in with this thread? Lol.

I'm not so sure it's the ibuprofen.

Hydrocodone itself causes nausea. try taking an antihistamine 30 minutes before. Opiates trigger the release of histamines, sometimes causing nausea

I bought a few 7.5/750 vics a week or so ago and those things gave me an upset stomach. and I never get an upset stomach. so mayby its to much APAP or ibuprofen.
    Just a thought

    That is what I said...

I was saying maybe his tolerance isn't as high as he thought it was, and the opiate itself actually made his stomach upset.

Ibuprofen does cause stomach discomfort, especially in large doses, and if taken on a normal basis....so it's actually a good guess in my opinion.

I get hives after taking Oxycodone sometimes, but it has never caused nausea. I've never heard of histamine release causing nausea actually. Do you have any information about that, that I could read up on?

Not trying to say you are wrong, I would just like to see some more information about it, because everything I was able to find online just simply stated that histamine release can cause allergy like symptoms such as sneezing, itching, hives, swelling, and even asthma....but no mention of nausea.

I either think it was the Hydrocodone itself that maybe just hit you a little harder then usual (many factors could have caused this....empty stomach, mixing with other medications, etc) or that it's just the Ibuprofen and APAP that is causing stomach discomfort.

Let us know if this still continues.

A pharmacist actually told me quite a while ago when I had opiates for the first time for wisdom teeth. I'm on my iPhone so I can't copy and paste. When I get home later I'll post something if i find it.

I rarely get nausea now, but when I used to claritin or promethazine always took it away

Edit: googling "antihistamines for opiate nausea" turned up some results.

That isn't what I was asking. I understand that antihistamines can combat nausea...Dramamine is a motion sickness pill, and similar to Benadryl. I was actually talking about histamine release CAUSING nausea. I haven't heard of that before. It's usually just associated with itchiness, sneezing, hives, etc...but not nausea.

Then I have no clue nor do I really give a fuck. If you take an ANTIhistamine, it combats histamines. If it takes away nausea, one would assume histamines are the cause of the nausea

I was simply responding with a way to treat the nausea, not to get in an arguement over the pharmacological properties of antihistamines

But assuming doesn't mean shit. Just because you don't give a fuck, doesn't mean you should be giving advice.

I already stated I wasn't doubting you, I was simply asking for more information on the release of histamines causing nausea. Because you can't back up the shit you say, you get pissy.

    Way to go.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Also, this isn't an argument over antihistamines...and in fact, it wasn't an argument until you got mad that someone questioned what you spouted out of your mouth.

I asked a question regarding a statement about HISTAMINE release, not the properties of antihistamines.

So go ahead and get mad and pissy, and try to make me look like the person who is wrong...you've hi-jacked every thread I have posted in lately to try and do so, but have failed.

Bro all I know is antihistamines help with nausea.

I honestly couldn't give a fuck if histamines cause nausea or not. Getting pissy because I don't know if histamines cause nausea? Ahahaha dude, get your shit straight. I could care a less.

Then why did you say that histamine release causes nausea, if you had no idea what the fuck you were talking about? The point of a forum is to stray away from false information.

You are getting pissy because I asked you to back up a ridiculous statement you said, that you obviously knew nothing about (and have since then admitted it)

You could care a less? Awesome. I could care two lesses.
