You are absolutly spot on concerning loss of habitat.A few weeks ago I heard about Tony Blair stating that " global warming is the number one threat to the environment". He would have access to information telling that loss of habitat and overpopulation are the real threats to the environment.Biological pollution would come in a close third ahead of industrial pollution and global warming.
