I have been having some problems with my acid/base extraction. I'm using A. colubrina seeds with white vinegar as an acid, lye as a base, and naptha for a solvent. I soaked the ground seeds in the vinegar for 2 weeks, filtered the pulp, then added the naptha, and then added a mixture of lye + distilled water untill I reached a pH of 10. I then waited a week and separated the naptha off with a syringe. When I evaporated the naptha I didn't get any yeild. Also I noticed that there is a weird layer underneath the naptha, but it doesnt look like an emulsion. I tried separating the layer and evaporating it, and it yeilded a brown resin which seems to draw mositure from the air. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    guess work here but

grind seed. soak in naptha, filter, evaporate, then base out, filter, then soak in everclear (95% ethynol) for......2weeks or so, then filter (keep that muck, its not done yet)

dispense the solution over a very hard, sturdy flat surface ( a pan). place in the fridge on a low setting and let evaporate.

While thats going on soak that muck again, and repeat the process on the same sheet soaking the muck at least twice.

During the 2nd soak it will be important to spray your sheet with plain old non soaked ethynal ever 2 days to prevent mold.

the buildup that forms will dry out in the fridge, take tray out, scrape off this buildup and do with as you please.
