If you really wanted to bring back the feel of the 60's, organize a large be-in with a bunch of garage bands or summat.

A be in, now that is a good idea. I've been trying to think of a way to do a free, or REALLY cheap festival in my area. My husband thinks I'm nuts, and it won't work, and no band would play for free! But I thought, if I were in a local band right now, and I wanted people to hear my music and feel my vibe I would play at this kind of thing, and sell my merch! I'd want to get known, and do something good that isn't about money! I know a lot of local bands that would do it, I really don't think it is so far fechted. Anybody in NE Ohio?

    hey,

"we'll call it the American Peace Festival, and we find rock bands who sound good, and have that kind of long haired, t-shirt & jeans look. And we'll take it on the road."

I have nothing against america but isn't peace mented for allover the wordl. So why the american peace festival, and not just worldpeace festival?

    Just a question
    love evryoe, love!

Cause if it's in America, it represents American Music.
But of course if there are bands or artists from other countries, than we'll change it World.

where would it be? we can't go and do woodstock again. we need a new place, our path has taken us farther than the farm there.

You know, we could just call it "The Peace Festival." I think simple is sometimes better. Just plain peace. What do ya think?

I vote we have it in Ohio! But I that's just convient for me. ;) Didn't you say something about taking it on the road? Maybe it could be held in several different locations throughout the summer?

I've been thinking about this a lot, like I said before. Dh and I have been involved with these kinds of things, but we've never done it ourselves. We've seen a lot of failure! If I were doing it (and could do it) right now, this is what I would do, locally speaking, anyway, (tell me what you think of my ideas!):

I would find a camp site/huge lot of land to hold the festival. It woul have to be somewhere very large (obviously) and somewhere cheap! (I do know someone who has land in ohio that they use for festivals....maybe I could get ahold of him, I bet he'd be really into this...)

We would get lots of good bands who are willing to play because they love making music and getting heard, not for money (in this day, this may prove to be the hardest part!) They could sell their merch., but otherwise be making no money on the gig. It's kind of like a charity, right? :)

We would charge for people to have booths to sell their goods at, but not outragouse prices, just for the sake of covering some of the cost of the site. We'd have food venders, homebusinesses (like handmade goods,) organizations and non-profit goups (of course only peaceful ones!)

People would camp at the site for the festival, and they would only pay what it costs to camp there (of course, at the group rate.)

I think the biggest problem I'm thinking of right now (the point my husband brought up to me) would be the sound equipment and stages. We would have to be renting these, and this can be very expensive! Perhaps because this is a nonprofit event some one would donate it?! That would be what to hope for, and try to get, IMHO!

    So what does everybody think?

I agree on putting this site on it. I'm not affraid of people who try to piss me off. Why should I bother? And you know, there ARE admins here, so, people would be kicked off, if it was necessary.

I feel left out, all these ideas always seem to be planned in America

Any Brits willing to do the same thing?

yes, there is only 1 woodstock 69, only 1 summer of love, but there can also be 1 peacefest, and we can't bring back the sixties, but we can start the 2000's! we CAN'T re-create then, but we CAN create now!

i think this is a great idea and have been thinking about getting something like this together for awhile. if anyone needs help, please let me know. LETS SERIOUSLY MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! i read on someone's post that it cannot be the 60s again. well that is true, but the ideolgy of the 60's will never die. especially in this time and place which is eerily beginning to look the same way. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SO FOR FUCK'S SAKE, LETS DO IT!!!

    peace and love

Yeah! Let's try it! Be positive!
You know, I'm a musician. I'm sill young, I know, but my main theme on my compositions (they're kinda psychadelic/alternative rock) is people being true and happy, and about a hippie revolution. Maybe I'm being a dreamer, but this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I'm not saying I'm going to be the next John Lennon, at all! I'm just saying that... music can be a great comunicator, and as you also know, I don't know anyone in the mainstream music nowadays with those influences. I've been thinking about this revolution since I remember.
We can make this happen! Be positive!

As for that quote or whatever under the peace sign it could probally be something like "you must be the change you want to see in the world" i think its from John Lennon but im probally wrong i just think if people saw that qoute it would make them think before they did something hurtfull to another.

    Peace

Well we kinda have to live with the fact that these are the 00's? Marijuana now makes you a social outcast and acid is really dry too. People are so obsessed with war they can't snap out of it, sorry my friend.

    beautiful. I agree completely.
You know everyone has had thoughts of doing something like this going their minds at one point in time. It's just a matter of uniting everyone and making it happen.
