I have wanted to visit NZ for a long time, and was stoked to get my working holiday visa recently. I have some questions to ask of New Zealanders. First, I have been exploring the seek.nz jobs site for over a year just to see what kind of jobs are in demand, and it seems that my field, computer programming, always seems to have the greatest number of openings. Does a New Zealander have any predictions as to how difficult it would be for an American to land one of these jobs? Is this a high demand job over there? Also what cities do you think would be good to go to for programming? I'm sure Auckland and Christchurch are high on the list. Also what are the winters like in NZ? From what I know our winter in the US is your summer in NZ. If I were to get a job in June, would I need to bring my snowboots with me to NZ? From what I read the winters are pretty mild with temps getting up in the 60's, and I'm sure this varies from place to place. Thanks!
Well I'm in Wellington, and we don't get snow at all. I used to live in Christchurch, and we occasionally got snow. It'll be different in different places and those are the only two I really know, but it doesn't tend to get too bad in NZ.
